Before I bring the children up here for their time I want all of you to pull out your sermon notes and a pencil or pen, and we are going to take a little quiz.
Ok, now those were the Bible Trivia questions for today. For this next part I want you to be honest with yourself. I was talking to someone in the church the other day and they were sharing about how they did really well in Algebra after they learned how to take tests. Free Pro Tip for our students, there is a right way to take multiple choice test, especially standardized tests that has nothing to do with what you know. (Talk about guessing). I don’t want you to do that with these questions. Please don’t try to guess what answers I’m looking for. I want you to be honest.
Question 1:
Who benefits most from us having a nursery?
Question 2:
What is an appropriate age to start serving in the church?
Question 3:
What is an appropriate age to stop serving in the church?
Question 4:
Where should children be during the sermon? the singing?
Question 5:
Who is in your family?
Ok, now as you are answering that question I want to invite the children to come join me up here. So we are talking about Doing Life God’s Way and I want to read some verses to you, but first I have a question, do you like when we do the children’s sermon? Just taking an informal poll. Why?
Matthew 19:13–15 CSB
Then children were brought to Jesus for him to place his hands on them and pray, but the disciples rebuked them. Jesus said, “Leave the children alone, and don’t try to keep them from coming to me, because the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” After placing his hands on them, he went on from there.
Luke 18:15a CSB
People were bringing infants to him so he might touch them, but when the disciples saw it, they rebuked them.
Mark 10:14 CSB
When Jesus saw it, he was indignant and said to them, “Let the little children come to me. Don’t stop them, because the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.
Jesus is having adult time....
Psalm 145 CSB
A hymn of David. I exalt you, my God the King, and bless your name forever and ever. I will bless you every day; I will praise your name forever and ever. The Lord is great and is highly praised; his greatness is unsearchable. One generation will declare your works to the next and will proclaim your mighty acts. I will speak of your splendor and glorious majesty and your wondrous works. They will proclaim the power of your awe-inspiring acts, and I will declare your greatness. They will give a testimony of your great goodness and will joyfully sing of your righteousness. The Lord is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and great in faithful love. The Lord is good to everyone; his compassion rests on all he has made. All you have made will thank you, Lord; the faithful will bless you. They will speak of the glory of your kingdom and will declare your might, informing all people of your mighty acts and of the glorious splendor of your kingdom. Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom; your rule is for all generations. The Lord is faithful in all his words and gracious in all his actions. The Lord helps all who fall; he raises up all who are oppressed. All eyes look to you, and you give them their food at the proper time. You open your hand and satisfy the desire of every living thing. The Lord is righteous in all his ways and faithful in all his acts. The Lord is near all who call out to him, all who call out to him with integrity. He fulfills the desires of those who fear him; he hears their cry for help and saves them. The Lord guards all those who love him, but he destroys all the wicked. My mouth will declare the Lord’s praise; let every living thing bless his holy name forever and ever.
