Five ways Faith played a role in Moses’ story

The Faith of Moses’ parents
Exodus 2:1-10
Exodus 1:15-22
Tells of how the king of Egypt in his hatred wanted to wipe out the Israelite children by killing them at birth.
That Moses was born at all during that time was an act of Faith. The fact that he survived was another.
2. Moses’ loyalty to his own people
Exodus 2:11-14
Regardless of his luxurious upbringing he knew he wasn’t meant to live in that way.
He gave up his earthly treasures for the sake of God’s people.
Parallel Christ how he gave up His glory for the sake of mankind.
Christ accepted the pain and shame and ultimately a terrible death.
He knew the treasures of this earth didn’t weigh more than the reward of God.
3. Because Moses’ intervened and killed the Egyptian, there came a day when he withdrew from Egypt to Midian.
Exodus 2:14-22
There would seem to be a contradiction between Exodus 2:14 and Hebrews 11:27.
Exodus said he feared the Pharaoh and left
Hebrews said he did not fear Pharaoh
How do you reconcile?
The writer of Hebrews saw deeper into the story.
He did not see Moses as “fearing” Pharaoh but that he had the courage to go lead the Israelite people.
It was that Moses had learned to wait for the right time.
4. Moses made arrangements for the first passover.
Exodus 12:12-48
Exodus 12:13-14
Exodus 12:26-28
Christ’s blood cleanses us from all sin
1 John 1:7
5. The great act of crossing the Red Sea.
Exodus 14
Do not read, just summarize.
At this moment Moses’ faith became real to the people.
They could’ve turned back but they chose to trust and move ahead through the sea.
Bonus: Moses’ faith was made complete by his close relationship with God.
Hebrews 11:27
Some examples of this closeness
Exodus 33:9-11
Numbers 12:7,8
Moses knew God personally
Every task he accomplished was a result from his relationship with God

APPLICATION:
Moses had believing parents.
While godly parents can not pass their faith or salvation down to their children, they create a atmosphere of Faith at home and become examples to their children.
The home should be the first “school of faith” for their child.
Moses’ decisions reflected this faith of his parents...
Hebrews 11:24-25
He refused to live a luxurious life and suffer with God’s people.
True faith causes a believer to hold the right values and make the right decisions.
2. Moses’ faith led to suffering for God.
Hebrews 11:26
The apostles suffered for their faith
Though maybe not physical we know we will suffer as we fix our lives on Christ.
3. Moses received the reward from his faith.
Hebrews 11:26b-29
God always rewards true faith, although not immediately, it will be ultimately.
TAKE HOME:
FAITH BRINGS US OUT (HEBREWS 11:28)
FAITH TAKES US THROUGH (HEBREWS 11:29)
FAITH BRINGS US IN (HEBREWS 11:29)
WHEN WE TRUST GOD, WE GET WHAT GOD CAN DO- WHEN WE TRUST OURSELVES WE GET WHAT ONLY PEOPLE CAN DO.
