Now after John had been taken into custody, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of God, and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.”
Jesus came and preached the Gospel.
We have been talking about this the past two days. In your own words, write down how you would define the Gospel.
What is the Gospel?
Jesus tells them that “the time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand.” Jesus is basically telling them that what has been promised for so long, is finally happening. The kingdom is at hand because the King has arrived. Jesus is there, and He has a message. “Repent and Believe the Gospel.”
These are the two responses required for those who desire to be apart of the kingdom of God. By the power of the Spirit, believers repent. By the power of the Spirit, repenters believe.
In your own words, describe what it means to repent.
Repent means to turn away from our natural desire toward sin, and turn toward doing the will of God.
In your own words, describe what it means to believe the Gospel.
Believe means to place our trust and hope entirely in Christ for our salvation.
That is the response Jesus requires in and that is the response he requires now.
So what happens after we repent and believe the Gospel.
First of all, we should know that God promises to complete the work he starts.
For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.
P
He, not only begins our salvation by saving us. He completes it throughout our lives by giving us His Spirit who empowers us to live according to His word.
Reflection:
Have you responded to the message of the Gospel by repenting of your sin and believing the Gospel?
What sins are you repenting of now?
In light of , What should be
How is your life different now than it was when you first were saved?
