Wednesday Prayer Meeting

The High Priestly Prayer

Begin with a Reading ,

To get us into the frame of mind where our focus is on God this evening lets read a short passage from Gods word and then we will sing to him.
The First is from Philippians 4:4-7 to Focus our minds on prayer.
The High Priestly Prayer
And The second is in to Focus our minds on Praise and to help us this evening remember who it is is we are praying to.

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Reflection

Reflection

This evening I would like us to learn from Jesus about what is near and dear to his heart in prayer when he prays for is both his disciples in the upper room and for us. And If I could draw your attention to one aspect of Jesus Prayer in particular this evening it is this in verse 20 “I do not ask for these only, but also for those who will believe in me through their word”
Before you pray for the needs of the church and Gods mission around the world this evening, first know and understand that you are doing so because at one time in human history, the eternal Son of God prayed a High Priestly Prayer over you. I do not ask for these only, but also for those who will believe in me through their word” Thats You!
Whatever means the Lord used to bring you here tonight, The fact that you are here praying this evening is because you are the beneficiaries of Jesus prayer over a message that was proclaimed by the apostles nearly 2000 years ago. “I do not ask for these only, but also for those who will believe in me through their word”
So as you pray tonight Remember that we are here because Jesus prayed for us, is upholding and sustaining us and the Gates of Hell cannot prevail against the church.
Yet we are facing tough times. Its imperative thαt we be completely attuned to Jesus heart for us, and for those who will believe through the Gospel message we proclaim.

I’ve picked up 5 petitions that Jesus prayed over us when he prayed for his disciples that I would like us to pray for tonight so that we come into alignment both in mind and heart with his will for us. So Please take a note of these.
What was on Jesus’s Heart as he prayed for me and you.
1. Protection In God’s Name (Verse 11) I will remain in the world no longer, but they are still in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name,
The Reason? Unity. “so that they may be one as we are one” (Verse 11/21/22/23
Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me (Verse21 second half)
Pray for Protection against disunity so that we are not ineffective in our witness,.
2. Joy (Verse 13) I am saying these things so that they may have the full measure of Joy in them.
Joy is precious for the Christian, It is out of Joy that we persevere and press on in spite of Difficulty. If we have lost Joy in church, in mission. Lets seek the Lord for it. Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me. ()

Pray for Joy – Joy enables us to push through hardships.
3. That we would be Sanctified (Verse17)
We are being Set-apart from the world and set apart for God, we are being more Christ like, more Holy as we are transformed by the Word of God.
Pray we would be transformed and be doers of the word not simply hearers.

24 “Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world.
Beholding gods Glory is Transformative 17 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. 18 And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate a the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit. 2 cor 3:17)
Pray that We would see Christ Glory in Increasing Measure
5. That we would be filled with the Love of God for Christ would be in us.
John 17:26 NIV
26 I have made you known to them, and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them.”
There is Power to live out the Christian Life when you know how much you are loved and you are filled with love for Christ
And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, 18 may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, 19 and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.
Pray that we would be filled with all the fullness and love of God.
