The Reality of Progressive Sanctification from paragraphs 2-3:

Sanctification here on Earth is not Perfect

Romans 7:18 ESV

For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh. For I have the desire to do what is right, but not the ability to carry it out.

Romans 7:23 ESV

but I see in my members another law waging war against the law of my mind and making me captive to the law of sin that dwells in my members.

Battling the Flesh is a Reality

Galatians 5:17 ESV

For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do.

1 Peter 2:11 ESV

Beloved, I urge you as sojourners and exiles to abstain from the passions of the flesh, which wage war against your soul.

Believers are in a War

Romans 7:23 ESV

God grants us strength to persevere

The Spirit of God enables us to grow in Grace

We press toward Heaven and Perfection
