Isaiah 6:1 ESV

In the year that King Uzziah died I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up; and the train of his robe filled the temple.

2 Chronicles 26:5 NLT

Uzziah sought God during the days of Zechariah, who taught him to fear God. And as long as the king sought guidance from the Lord, God gave him success.

His pride became clearly evident when he usurped the function of a priest. Upon entering the temple to offer incense upon the altar of incense he was confronted by Azariah the priest and 80 other priests, “men of valor,” who took him to task for his presumptuous behavior.

When Uzziah became angry the Lord struck him with leprosy, so that he was forced to live in isolation and could not enter the temple. His son, Jotham, became acting head of state and then succeeded to the kingship at the time of Uzziah’s death; he “did what was right in eyes of the Lord”
