ESSENCE OF MARRIAGE
LESSON 27
ESSENCE OF MARRIAGE
MEMORY VERSE
Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; but fornicators and adulterers God will judge.
and adulterers God will judge."
BIBLE READING:
Then the Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to tend and keep it. And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, “Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.”
And the Lord God said, “It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him.” Out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the air, and brought them to Adam to see what he would call them. And whatever Adam called each living creature, that was its name. So Adam gave names to all cattle, to the birds of the air, and to every beast of the field. But for Adam there was not found a helper comparable to him.
And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, and he slept; and He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place. Then the rib which the Lord God had taken from man He made into a woman, and He brought her to the man.
And Adam said:
“This is now bone of my bones
And flesh of my flesh;
She shall be called Woman,
Because she was taken out of Man.”
Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.
And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.

Why Should We Marry?
2. Who Should A Christian Marry?
WHY SHOULD WE MARRY?
There are several reasons we should marry if we feel led by God to do so.
Some of the reasons are:
To obey the command of God .
Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”
Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.
(; )
For fellowship
And the Lord God said, “It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him.”
For partnership
Two are better than one,
Because they have a good reward for their labor.
For if they fall, one will lift up his companion.
But woe to him who is alone when he falls,
For he has no one to help him up.
Again, if two lie down together, they will keep warm;
But how can one be warm alone?

To satisfy the sexual and emotional desires that are good, holy and legitimate but can only be fully satisfied in marriage
Now concerning the things of which you wrote to me:
It is good for a man not to touch a woman. Nevertheless, because of sexual immorality, let each man have his own wife, and let each woman have her own husband. Let the husband render to his wife the affection due her, and likewise also the wife to her husband. The wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does. And likewise the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does. Do not deprive one another except with consent for a time, that you may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again so that Satan does not tempt you because of your lack of self-control. But I say this as a concession, not as a commandment. For I wish that all men were even as I myself. But each one has his own gift from God, one in this manner and another in that.
But I say to the unmarried and to the widows: It is good for them if they remain even as I am; but if they cannot exercise self-control, let them marry. For it is better to marry than to burn with passion.

WHO SHOULD A CHRISTIAN MARRY?

[20:56, 7/14/2018] My Love. My Life: WHO SHOULD A CHRISTIAN MARRY?
Christians may only marry Christians-2 Cor. 6:14-17.
Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever? And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said:
“I will dwell in them
And walk among them.
I will be their God,
And they shall be My people.”
Therefore
“Come out from among them
And be separate, says the Lord.
Do not touch what is unclean,
And I will receive you.”

In God it is unacceptable for a godly person and an ungodly one to be united in Holy matrimony to be one flesh. How can they be one when one serve God in holiness and righteousness, while the other serves sin satan

In , we have six clear reasons a believer should not marry an unbeliever:
unbeliever:
1. God's command: 'be ye not unequally yoked together with unbéliever (vs.14a)
command: 'be ye not unequally yoked together with unbéever
(vs.14a)
(vs.14a)
2. Righteousness has no fellowship with unrighteousnes
3. Light has no communion with darkness (vs.14c).
4. Christ has no concord with Belial (vs.15a).
5. Believers have no part with infidels (vs.15b).
6. God's temple has no agreement with idols (vs.16a).
s (vs.14b)
It is easy then to see that the question that naturally comes to mind is how can this two set of people who are so different, form a true partnership and have joyful fellowship?
CONCLUSION
Marriage is an honourable institution that believers must prayertfully and watchfully enter into. It is more of a spiritual affair than lust being physical .
