Have you ever felt that no matter how much you pray, that for some reason it seems like Jesus doesn’t want to heal you?
Have you ever prayed hard for someone else, and for some reason, nothing seems to happen?
If this is you…you might need...
Crumby Faith
<< Read Opening Scripture >>
But she answered him, “Yes, Lord; yet even the dogs under the table eat the children’s crumbs.” And he said to her, “For this statement you may go your way; the demon has left your daughter.”
Tell you friend...”You need Crumby Faith”
A Jesus on Mission
A Jesus on Mission
And from there he arose and went away to the region of Tyre and Sidon. And he entered a house and did not want anyone to know, yet he could not be hidden.
Jesus travelled 50 miles north of where He was to a region He didn’t belong...
Jesus’ sole mission on Earth was to “reach the lost sheep of Israel”
By heading to the region Tyre & Sidon, He knew there wouldn’t be any Jews there, this was a complete Gentile region
vs
And from there he arose and went away to the region of Tyre and Sidon. And he entered a house and did not want anyone to know, yet he could not be hidden.
Jesus did not want anyone to know...
He wasn’t trying to be a rebel and make everyone mad, He was trying to do the Father’s Will but also honor those around.
BUT HE COULDN’T BE HIDDEN!
Anytime Jesus is present at all, He finds a way to touch lives, because He cannot be hidden.
Humble Intercession
Humble Intercession
But immediately a woman whose little daughter had an unclean spirit heard of him and came and fell down at his feet. Now the woman was a Gentile, a Syrophoenician by birth. And she begged him to cast the demon out of her daughter.
The Facts:
This woman didn’t need the healing
The daughter was demon possessed
Some might say the mom also needed the healing, because, there’s not many things worse than a demon possessed child!
This mother was an intercessor - pleading before God for the case of someone else.
There are times YOU are not the one needing the break through from Jesus, but someone you know or love is the one needing it.
You must step up and intercede = take their burden as your own.
Be Prepared for the Response You Get
Be Prepared for the Response You Get
Mark 7:27
And he said to her, “Let the children be fed first, for it is not right to take the children’s bread and throw it to the dogs.”
And He said to her, First let the children be fed, for it is not becoming or proper or right to take the children’s bread and throw it to the [little house] dogs.
THE AMP puts it this way...”throw it to the [little house] dogs.“
HISTORY:
Jews used to call the Gentiles “dogs” and not in a nice way. They would’ve been calling them dogs in the most derogatory way possible…essentially, calling them the modern day phrase of “female dog”
Jesus did not use the normal word for “dogs.” Instead He softened it into little dogs—essentially, reminding the woman of her place as a Gentile, yet not wanting to push her completely away. “In Greek, diminutives are characteristically affectionate. Jesus took the sting out of the word.”
The woman could’ve been frustrated and responded to Jesus in a poor manner, but instead, she responds with incredible faith!
But she answered him, “Yes, Lord; yet even the dogs under the table eat the children’s crumbs.”
Markk 7:28
The woman responds in humility and is granted her request.
Her response to Jesus was in essence:
“Lord, I know that you are here for the Jews, but I also understand that your ability goes far beyond them. I just want to be a part of that extended blessing!”
Applying this directly to Jesus words:
“I’m not asking for the portion that belongs to children, just the crumbs that they don’t want.”
Jesus Responds:
And he said to her, “For this statement you may go your way; the demon has left your daughter.”
But she answered him, “Yes, Lord; yet even the dogs under the table eat the children’s crumbs.”
Jesus is saying, YOUR FAITH IS SO GREAT, which is something He’s only said to this one woman.
There is one other time in the Bible it records Jesus saying this, but it was to a crowd about a man.
This time, Jesus compliments her faith directly to her.
