Have you ever had a promise from God that took forever to come about?
Or maybe you had a promise of God that has still not taken shape yet.
(My mother’s dream – An eagle flying from and picking twigs and leaves from the ground and building nests in a very large cedar tree. Then birds would fly to the nests to find rest and a home.
God then gave my mother these verses.
“This is what the Sovereign Lord says: I will take a branch from the top of a tall cedar, and I will plant it on the top of Israel’s highest mountain. It will become a majestic cedar, sending forth its branches and producing seed. Birds of every sort will nest in it, finding shelter in the shade of its branches. And all the trees will know that it is I, the Lord, who cuts the tall tree down and makes the short tree grow tall. It is I who makes the green tree wither and gives the dead tree new life. I, the Lord, have spoken, and I will do what I said!”
God’s promise to me was that I would create churches
that would be a safe place for the rejects,
the forgotten, the hopeless, the broken, the spiritually homeless,
so they could see the Love of God and desire to follow the way of Jesus.
It began to take shape years ago but, I am still waiting on the fullness of that promise.
Maybe you are in the same boat as me. Maybe you are still waiting for the promise.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Today, I want to talk to you about how you can see God’s promises fulfilled in your life.
Today, I want to talk to you about how you can see God’s promises fulfilled in your life.
Joshua 14:
A delegation from the tribe of Judah, led by Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite, came to Joshua at Gilgal. Caleb said to Joshua, “Remember what the Lord said to Moses, the man of God, about you and me when we were at Kadesh-barnea. I was forty years old when Moses, the servant of the Lord, sent me from Kadesh-barnea to explore the land of Canaan. I returned and gave an honest report, but my brothers who went with me frightened the people from entering the Promised Land. For my part, I wholeheartedly followed the Lord my God. So that day Moses solemnly promised me, ‘The land of Canaan on which you were just walking will be your grant of land and that of your descendants forever, because you wholeheartedly followed the Lord my God.’
“Now, as you can see, the Lord has kept me alive and well as he promised for all these forty-five years since Moses made this promise—even while Israel wandered in the wilderness. Today I am eighty-five years old. I am as strong now as I was when Moses sent me on that journey, and I can still travel and fight as well as I could then. So give me the hill country that the Lord promised me. You will remember that as scouts we found the descendants of Anak living there in great, walled towns. But if the Lord is with me, I will drive them out of the land, just as the Lord said.”
So Joshua blessed Caleb son of Jephunneh and gave Hebron to him as his portion of land. Hebron still belongs to the descendants of Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite because he wholeheartedly followed the Lord, the God of Israel.

Hebron was God’s promise to Caleb for is faith in God.
Hebron was God’s promise to Caleb for is faith in God.
What is your Hebron? What has God promised you?
New business venture
A degree
Your marriage
The salvation of your children, brother, sister, parents
Being a family built on God
Getting your finances in order
A promotion at work you have wanted.
Living a life that looks like Jesus.
My Hebron is – the young – artistic – those who have rejected the church – those who have been forgotten by religion.
My Hebron is the multitude of Rural communities with no real presence of Jesus.
I want to build nests in the Kingdom of God that gives rest to the rejects, the forgotten, the young, the artist.
What is your Hebron?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lets look at 4 truths to taking your Hebron.
Lets look at 4 truths to taking your Hebron.

God’s Promises are predicated on our faithfulness.
God’s Promises are predicated on our faithfulness.
So that day Moses solemnly promised me, ‘The land of Canaan on which you were just walking will be your grant of land and that of your descendants forever, because you wholeheartedly followed the Lord my God.’
7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, and I have remained faithful. 8 And now the prize awaits me—the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give me on the day of his return. And the prize is not just for me but for all who eagerly look forward to his appearing.
2 Tim 4:7-8
God is always faithful to fulfill His end but if we want to receive the promise we must fulfill ours.
God is always faithful to fulfill His end but if we want to receive the promise we must fulfill ours.
God is always faithful to fulfill His end but if we want to receive the promise we must fulfill ours.
You cannot receive God’s promise if you are unwilling to do what He has told you.
Examples:
I want to lose 20 lbs - Expert stop eating sugar and carbs - No - You won’t lose the weight.
The Promise of a good marriage:
Husbands - Love wife as X loves the Church
Wives - Submit yourself to your husband
I want the promise but I wont - Give my self to her as X did to the Church.
I want the promise but I wont - Submit to that idiot.
God
If you refuse God’s plan, you are also refusing His promise.
You want to receive what God has promised?
You want to receive what God has promised?
Then be faithful to what God has told us.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sometimes you must wait for your Hebron.
Sometimes you must wait for your Hebron.
Caleb waited 45 years.
Sometimes God makes us wait.
Sometimes God makes us wait.
He is clearing the path, or He is working on you.
Sometimes God makes us wait because the timing is not right.
Things must be put in order first.
Other times we wait because we are not right.
He must put us in order first.
Moses - Left Egypt at 40 and returned at 80 to free God’s people. (40 years to build his character.)
Part of my wait is God has asked me to fully equip myself. (I.E. Spiritual formation, Education, Tools to take my Hebron.)
Why are you still waiting?
Why are you still waiting?
Is God preparing the ground for you?
Or is God still preparing you for the promise?

You Must Take What God Has Promised You
You Must Take What God Has Promised You
12 So give me the hill country that the Lord promised me. You will remember that as scouts we found the descendants of Anak living there in great, walled towns. But if the Lord is with me, I will drive them out of the land, just as the Lord said.”
5 Then, teaching them more about prayer, he used this story: “Suppose you went to a friend’s house at midnight, wanting to borrow three loaves of bread. You say to him, 6 ‘A friend of mine has just arrived for a visit, and I have nothing for him to eat.’ 7 And suppose he calls out from his bedroom, ‘Don’t bother me. The door is locked for the night, and my family and I are all in bed. I can’t help you.’ 8 But I tell you this—though he won’t do it for friendship’s sake, if you keep knocking long enough, he will get up and give you whatever you need because of your shameless persistence.
9 “And so I tell you, keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. 10 For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.
Do you have Caleb’s fortitude to take your Hebron?
Do you have Caleb’s fortitude to take your Hebron?
Are you willing to do the hard work to take your Hebron?
Are you willing to get the education you need for the promotion?
Are you willing to fix your diet for your health?
Are you willing to constantly lift your family in prayer and not be afraid to talk to them about Jesus is a gentle way? Or in a hard way if needed?
Are you willing to lay down your own selfish ways for your spouse?
Are you willing to be a father or mother to your child and not just a cool friend?
Are you willing to do the hard work to take God’s promise to you?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Our Hebron is our city.
Look around – This is not our Hebron – We are not finished – This is just one of the many tools we will need to capture the hearts of our city for Jesus.
God has promised us a share of Osage
The question is, are we willing to do the hard work to take it.
Door to door
Constantly invite our friends.
Make Sundays about the visitors encountering God and giving up our preferences.
Engaging our city and the city life
(Go to football games, get out there and meet people, tell your friends about Jesus and what He means to you, make real friends with unbelievers.)
You Must Take What God Has Promised You
You Must Take What God Has Promised You

You Are Never Too Old To Take Your Hebron
You Are Never Too Old To Take Your Hebron
Your age has nothing to do with it. / Your mentality has everything to do with it.
Caleb was 85 and look at what he said.
10 “Now, as you can see, the Lord has kept me alive and well as he promised for all these forty-five years since Moses made this promise—even while Israel wandered in the wilderness. Today I am eighty-five years old. 11 I am as strong now as I was when Moses sent me on that journey, and I can still travel and fight as well as I could then.
Moses was 80 when he led the children of Israel out of slavery to Egypt.
Abraham was 100 when Isaac the promised son was born.
You are never too old to take your Hebron.
You are never too old to take your Hebron.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you want to receive God’s promises for your life you must.
If you want to receive God’s promises for your life you must.
Walk in obedience
Be patient, God is either preparing the ground work or he is still working on you.
Do the hard work to receive the promise.
Realize you are never too old to take your Hebron.
You are never too old to take your Hebron.
