Everything that God initiates or allows in your life, God promises to walk through with you.
Everything that God initiates or allows in your life, God promises to walk through with you.
God is with you THROUGH IT ALL.
God is with you THROUGH IT ALL.
Joshua & Caleb — through it all
Rahab and her family — through it all
Ruth and Naomi — through it all
The Bible is brimming with testimonies of the faithfulness of God through trials, temptations and calamities.
The Bible is brimming with testimonies of the faithfulness of God through trials, temptations and calamities.
And you show that you are a letter from Christ delivered by us, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.
Such is the confidence that we have through Christ toward God. Not that we are sufficient in ourselves to claim anything as coming from us, but our sufficiency is from God, who has made us sufficient to be ministers of a new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit. For the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.
Now if the ministry of death, carved in letters on stone, came with such glory that the Israelites could not gaze at Moses’ face because of its glory, which was being brought to an end, will not the ministry of the Spirit have even more glory? For if there was glory in the ministry of condemnation, the ministry of righteousness must far exceed it in glory. Indeed, in this case, what once had glory has come to have no glory at all, because of the glory that surpasses it. For if what was being brought to an end came with glory, much more will what is permanent have glory.
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. 5 For as we share abundantly in Christ’s sufferings, so through Christ we share abundantly in comfort too. 6 If we are afflicted, it is for your comfort and salvation; and if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which you experience when you patiently endure the same sufferings that we suffer. 7 Our hope for you is unshaken, for we know that as you share in our sufferings, you will also share in our comfort.
8 For we do not want you to be unaware, brothers, of the affliction we experienced in Asia. For we were so utterly burdened beyond our strength that we despaired of life itself. 9 Indeed, we felt that we had received the sentence of death. But that was to make us rely not on ourselves but on God who raises the dead. 10 He delivered us from such a deadly peril, and he will deliver us. On him we have set our hope that he will deliver us again. 11 You also must help us by prayer, so that many will give thanks on our behalf for the blessing granted us through the prayers of many.
2 Corin 1:3-11
Afflitions… sharing in Christ’s sufferings… burdened beyond our strength that we despaired of life itself… received the sentence of death… deadly peril...
Our infatuation with a textured life.
Our infatuation with a textured life.
The infatuation with things genuine, authentic, durable...
The difference between youngers and olders…
The glory is not found in the trials that are an evidence of our brokenness… the glory is found in the comfort and deliverance of God THROUGH IT ALL.
When you set your hope on God who raises the dead… that he will deliver you… you can sing this week’s PLAYLIST Song… the old hymn “It is Well.”
When you set your hope on God who raises the dead… that he will deliver you… you can sing this week’s PLAYLIST Song… the old hymn “It is Well.”
But when you don’t set your hope on God who raises the dead — even when you hang around those for whom such dependence on God is the framework of their life, then you words may be “it is well” words, but you may be living an “it isn’t well” life.
— Naaman and Elisha and Gehazi (guh-hay-zai)
Naaman — did as Elisha said… angrily and with some arrogance… and God was with him through it all. For Naaman, it was well.

2 kings 5:20-22
20 Gehazi, the servant of Elisha the man of God, said, “See, my master has spared this Naaman the Syrian, in not accepting from his hand what he brought. As the Lord lives, I will run after him and get something from him.” 21 So Gehazi followed Naaman. And when Naaman saw someone running after him, he got down from the chariot to meet him and said, “Is all well?” 22 And he said, “All is well. My master has sent me to say, ‘There have just now come to me from the hill country of Ephraim two young men of the sons of the prophets. Please give them a talent of silver and two changes of clothing.’ ”
Guh-hay-zai saw this as an opportunity to lean in on Naaman’s “it is well”-ness to create a little “it is better than well”-ness for himself.

Guh-hay-zai and his descendants ends up with Naaman’s leprosy — forever.
When you are in affliction or trial or a tough spot, walking into the afflictions and facing them with Jesus allows Jesus the opportunity to comfort you.
When you are in affliction or trial or a tough spot, walking into the afflictions and facing them with Jesus allows Jesus the opportunity to comfort you.
The affliction isn’t well. The comfort from Jesus… through it all… that is what makes the affliction well.

9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10 For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
2 corin
10 For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
11 I have been a fool! You forced me to it, for I ought to have been commended by you. For I was not at all inferior to these super-apostles, even though I am nothing. 12 The signs of a true apostle were performed among you with utmost patience, with signs and wonders and mighty works.
