Heroes Have Courage

Heroes Have Strength

What is the source of a heroes’ courage and strength?
Faith!
Hebrews 11:1 KJV 1900
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
Faith is the confidence in what we hope for and the assurance about what we do not see
When I say that heroes have strength what do you think of? What comes to your mind when you think of a “strong” hero?

MUSCLES

Illustration: Arm wrestling contest. Trusting in your own strength v.s. trusting in a strength greater than yourself.
If we are to be a hero for God then we must put our confidence in God’s strength, we must be completely sure in our minds, even though we do not see it with out eyes sometimes, we must be assured that God is strong. For it is our faith in God that gives us our strength.
Hebrews 11:33–34 KJV 1900
33 Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, 34 Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.
When you think of the strongest man in the Bible who comes to mind?

Key Verse:
Judges 16:28 KJV 1900
28 And Samson called unto the Lord, and said, O Lord God, remember me, I pray thee, and strengthen me, I pray thee, only this once, O God, that I may be at once avenged of the Philistines for my two eyes.
Judges 16:28 KJV 1900
28 And Samson called unto the Lord, and said, O Lord God, remember me, I pray thee, and strengthen me, I pray thee, only this once, O God, that I may be at once avenged of the Philistines for my two eyes.
If we are to be heroes of God, one of the firs thing that we need to realize is that our strength is not our own.
2 Corinthians 12:9 KJV 1900
9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
2 Cor 12.

Our strength comes from our faith

Faith is the confidence in what we hope for and the assurance about what we do not see
Romans 5:6 KJV 1900
6 For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.
Philippians 4:13 KJV 1900
13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
