What is “for sure”? …..one more…If you’ve accepted Jesus Christ as your savior you have the assurance of eternal life in heaven.

Follow the line leader!   Follow Jesus.  Makiah must always be…..

Last week... advocate=intercedes & propitiation suffered sin penalty…… This A.M….We’ve got to “follow the line leader”.

You ever questioned salvation?  Sometimes we look at others, see how God is blessing them & start to wonder…. Is my place in heaven reserved?

Am I really1of Gods childrn? Do I really know Him?....we start to wonder.

How can we know we’ve inherited eternal life?

Our Advocate and propitiation….How can we know that we know?  We’ve got to “follow the line leader! our L & S Jesus Christ.

We can have assurance of salvation if obedient to Christ’s commands & follow example of Christ’s life…… We’ve got to “follow the line leader!

Read Vs. 3 Our obedience is the evidence of our relationship with Jesus..

We know we’ve come to know him if we obey his commands.

Assurance=Not how we feel…..emotions change=temporary & influenced by external factors. Mountaintops=good but don’t always feel close to God

Culture majors on the emotional…Bible on truth.                                   John says it’s our obedience that defines our assurance of a relationship. The measure is not perfection, but the attitude of the heart.

Read vs4. Our words, if divorced from our actions… can’t just say it, we must live it….We’ve got to follow the line leader!

The word, Commands… instructions, charges, that Jesus gave while here on earth or through his apostles in the New Testament books.

We must guard/honor those commands. This only be done=following His example. We’ve got to follow the line leader!

Read vs 5,6  we’re a people whose actions are evidence transformed heart.

Our love 4 God=complete when it expresses itself in acts of obedience.

Christ is not only the Propitiation (or sacrifice) for our sins and the Advocate who represents us before God, but He is also the perfect Pattern for our daily life.  We’ve got to follow the line leader!

We’ve got to live here on earth the way Jesus lived when He was here.

Jesus said, “whoever serves me must follow me”.

Practical applications-daily lives; believers forgive one another; Husbands love their wives as Christ loved church; Wives honor & obey husbands.  No matter what area of life it may be, our responsibility is to do what Jesus would do…….we’ve got to follow the line leader!

The Apostle Paul said, “I am convinced that he is able to guard what I have entrusted to him for that day”.
