Welcome And Announcements

Youth Fellowship will meet at Meredith Carroll’s house this evening.
You have loved us, oh Lord, in a manner that we cannot fully understand. For you are majestic and without flaw. You govern all creation from your mighty throne. You are infinite, eternal, and unchangeable. In your being, you perfectly represent wisdom, power, holiness, justice, goodness, and truth. Join us God as we join the angels in singing praises to your name.
I would also like to welcome Reverend Tim Kay this morning. He will be preaching both our Morning and Evening Services. Reverend Kay has severed PCA churches in Alabama and Georgia. However, he now serves on staff at African Bible College. He serves as the Director of Partner Relations and Lectures in theology, bible, and Christian Ministry. We are delighted to have you with us and we look to your ministry to us.
If there are no other announcements, let us continue to prepare for worship.

Prelude/Preparation for Worship

Call to Worship:

1  Shout for joy to God, all the earth;

2  sing the glory of his name;

give to him glorious praise!

3  Say to God, “How awesome are your deeds!

So great is your power that your enemies come cringing to you.

4  All the earth worships you

and sings praises to you;

they sing praises to your name.”

Hymn 55 to God be the Glory

Invocation, Confession and Lord’s Prayer

To God be the glory. Great things he has done.
Join us God as we join the angels in singing praises to your name. Prepare to worship you well and to keep your commandments
Prepare to worship you well and to keep your commandments. For we have not loved you as we ought. We do the things you forbid and ignore the things you command. Like Israel, we are a stiff-necked people that deserve unending wrath. Yet you are gracious to us and abounding is steadfast love. You are merciful and withhold the Judgement that we dissevered. And you are gracious for sending Christ to redeem us from the bondage of our sin. Therefore, we confess our sins to you this morning. That we might enjoy our union with Christ as we worship you.
In that Union we pray as our savior taught us to pray, saying,/ Our Father who art in heaven// Hollowed be thy name// Thy kingdom come/ Thy will be done in earth//, as it is in heaven// Give us this day our daily bread// And forgive us our debts,/ as we forgive our debtors// And lead us not into temptation,/ but delivers us from evil,//For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory,// forever.
Amen

Lord we appreciate the Holy Spirit’s constant work in our lives. It is out of that work, we pray for one another. We first think of the unbelievers in our midst. The people of our country reject you as their God and mock your holy Name. By their w

Our Old Testament Lesson comes from the Prophets. Amos lived during a time of great economic prosperity in Israel. With that said, he saw the hearts of the people reject God. The social elite abused their position in society and let the poor rot in the streets. The people have forgotten the call to love their neighbor and sought to take advantage of the weak and marginalized. Like the other prophet, we see God’s judgement pronounced on Israel for their apostacy and wickedness. However, as we will hear today. God seeks to restore a remnant to call his own. A people that will dwell with him forever.
Hear the word of God in Amos:

11  “In that day I will raise up

the booth of David that is fallen

and repair its breaches,

and raise up its ruins

and rebuild it as in the days of old,

12  that they may possess the remnant of Edom

and all the nations who are called by my name,”

declares the LORD who does this.

13  “Behold, the days are coming,” declares the LORD,

“when the plowman shall overtake the reaper

and the treader of grapes him who sows the seed;

the mountains shall drip sweet wine,

and all the hills shall flow with it.

14  I will restore the fortunes of my people Israel,

and they shall rebuild the ruined cities and inhabit them;

they shall plant vineyards and drink their wine,

and they shall make gardens and eat their fruit.

15  I will plant them on their land,

and they shall never again be uprooted

out of the land that I have given them,”

says the LORD your God.

Hymn 342 Christ is Made the Sure Foundation

Prayer and Offertory

Lord we appreciate the Holy Spirit’s constant work in our lives. It is out of that work, we pray for one another. We first think of the unbelievers in our midst. The people of our country reject you as their God and mock your holy Name. By their words and deeds they pronounce your holy wrath upon themselves. Like the prophet Jeremiah, we weep for the people of our country. For we know the judgement they deserve. Therefore, we pray that you soften the hearts of the people a prepare the ground to be labored by your church.
Also, sanctify this congregation to holiness. That we might be a pleasing aroma in the presence of God. Use the preached word as a means of grace to die unto sin and live unto righteousness. Refresh your people this morning by your Holy Word.
We think of the afflicted among us. We especially think of Henry Williams. You have been gracious to this saint. We are happy to see him in good spirits and pray for a smooth recovery. We praise you for the preservation of our dear brother and for the wisdom that you provided the doctors. Give their family the rest and peace found in your scripture.
Lastly, we pray for our government. As political division widens, we pray for peace and unity. We pray this so that our country may be governed well. Mend the divide that we experience regularly in the political landscape. From the media to our own families, we have felt the pain of political intolerance. Therefore, remind us of the unity found in Christ. May your church prosper in her unity as the world divides itself.
Finally, we pray for this offering. May we offer to you like Abel. In all that we give, may it be pleasing in your sight.
We pray these things in your name, Amen
Freely you have been give and now freely you may give.

If we have no other announcements, let us prepare for worship

Prelude/Preparation for Worship

Call to Worship:

1  Make a joyful noise to the LORD, all the earth!

2  Serve the LORD with gladness!

Come into his presence with singing!

3  Know that the LORD, he is God!

It is he who made us, and we are his;

we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

4  Enter his gates with thanksgiving,

and his courts with praise!

Give thanks to him; bless his name!

Invocation

We gather this evening to end this Lord’s day by worshipping you. As far as the east is from the west, your dominion and authority reigns. For you are the ruler of the heavens and the earth. You spoke and all creation came to be. And by the word of your power, you uphold creation for your glory. Lord, you also uphold your people.
You have adopted us as sons and daughters and we have the daily opportunity to fellowship with our elder brother, Jesus Christ. Like a Elder brother, Christ teaches and guides us. He shows us how to live in God’s house and how to obey God’s commands. We thank you for sending Christ to us that we might gather here this evening to praise your holy name, Amen.

Hymn 92 A Mighty fortress is our God

Evening Prayer

You have blessed this church in Yazoo City. You have given a faithful leaders and humble servants. We particularly think of the session. As they meet this coming week, guide their hearts to be ambassadors of your holy work. Lead them regularly to make faithful decisions that honor you. Humble these men in your presence and encourage them.
We also thing of the Women in the church. They have been an incredible blessing to my family and to many families in our congregation. You have gifted them to serve in so many way and we pray that they never loose sight of the gifts that you have given. We pray that you continue your work in this group. Use them as a blessing to our community.
We also pray for the other staff in our church. We think of Sharon, and Dorthy, and Sara, and Mac, and Charles. Each has offered varying skills that aid your church in Yazoo city. As they serve this church in varying capacities, support these families as they live out their calling in your kingdom. Remind them that you will never leave them or forsake them. For you have promised to protect them for all eternity.
We pray these things in your holy name, Amen.
