The founders of our great nation were men of faith and humility before God, receiving wisdom and strengths from God. Thomas Jefferson in the Deceleration of Independence, wrote, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and pursuit of happiness.” These faithful words as beautiful and powerful that they are, can sound like childlike faith as compared to the challenges and great dangers of being wiped out, the framers were facing standing against the powerful nation of England, winning the victory for independence.

You know, there are no grownups here, we are all children, in God’s eyes. So, let us come before God with our own powerful childlike words of faith, pray God give us wisdom and strength and carries us through our hardships and help us do good on the way. Pray that the leaders of our nation will continue to seek faith wisdom and strength from God to work together in truth, so that our nation will continue to bring glory to God.
In our Gospel Jesus breaks out in spontaneous praise to God for this exciting truth of having childlike faith and trust in God, that reveals the presence of God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit working to preserve us in our personal and national life. Let us remember always to have childlike faith fit for grownups to acknowledge God, praising, thanking and trusting God for everything, praying for God’s guidance and loving mercy in our human achievement, and to help us solve our problems with wisdom that comes from God.
