In order for us to understand the importance of loving God we must understand that he loved us first.
1 John 4:10 ESV
In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

God’s love was revealed among us in this way: God sent his one and only Son into the world so that we might live through him. 10 Love consists in this: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins.

Discussion Question: What is the number one thing we must have security in? ______________________
God has met our need for (security-love): “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?... I am persuaded that…(nothing) shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus.” , ); “God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners (at our worst, exposed for what we really are, no masks), Christ died for us.” .

Discussion Question: Why would we have loyalty towards God?
