Growth In Christian Virtue
Growth In Christian Virtue
In 1 Peter, Peter sought to help Church members understand that if they endured persecution well, they would receive salvation and eternal glory.
In 2 Peter, Peter encouraged disciples of Jesus Christ to seek after the traits that would enable them to obtain a divine nature like the Savior. By so doing, their knowledge of God would grow and they could make their calling and election sure.
We begin in Chapter 1, verses 1, Peter starts by calling himself Simon Peter, who seems to remind himself of where he came from, as Peter was the name JESUS gave to Simon.
This shows humility, reminding the believers to remember who they were before they received JESUS as their Lord and Savior.
