Heroes of Enduring Faith: Abraham & Sarah – Hebrews 11:8-12
By Abraham’s example of enduring faith, we learn…
Faith obeys God’s call. (v. 8)
Faith makes us foreigners down here. (vv. 9-10)
Faith believes God’s ability to accomplish the extraordinary. (vv. 11-12)
Bringing it home to us in 2017:
Faith is a display of God’s goodness, His grace, and His glory.
We can’t separate faith from obedience.
By faith God accomplishes the extraordinary in you.

Application Discussion:
1. Talk together about saving faith being God-centered and not man-centered. Whose goodness
is revealed by our faith? Whose glory is on display? – How is God’s favor (grace) the driving
force of His people?
2. Are you living a defeated life or are you confident in Christ by faith? You’re no hero. So what?
There is an ultimate Hero who will make you His own by faith. That hero is Jesus. If by faith
he has made you his own, are you not comforted? Are you not empowered?
3. Are we truly living as foreigners in our own time & culture, or do we blend right in? – Make a
list of the things that you expect the world to value. Ask yourself then if there’s clear
evidence in your life that you value eternity and advancing the gospel more than this world
and this life.
4. While it is true that our faith is in God and not our ability, we can’t separate genuine faith
from obedience. What evidence is there in your life that you are obeying God’s call of faith?
How can you tell that you prioritize following Jesus?
