The Foundation of Freedom

For everything there is a foundation, a structure!
Freedom has its foundation in the Spirit!
The experience of freedom is not something we can bring to ourselves; rather, it is the work of the triune God. Freedom is not to be found in the absence of God or his commands; rather, it exists where the Spirit of God is. This is a result of the very purpose of freedom, which is not the be able to do “whatever one wants,” but is in reality the freedom from the incapacitation effects of sin. True freedom is not for oneself or for one’s own needs; rather, true freedom is the freedom to obey God and to serve others.
Everything needs a foundation!
Genesis 1:2 NKJV
The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.
Genesis 1:2 NKJV
The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.
Genesis 1:1 NKJV
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
Genesis 1:3 NKJV
Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light.
Freedom is not being without form, God is a God of structure and order. Everything we see in nature follows a specific order. Seasons and time were formed by God to establish a foundation for us to live free in this world.
Freedom is not “do whatever you want” that is anarchy!
Our Spiritual freedom is founded in the shedding of Jesus’s blood on the cross. There was a whole process and structure that God set in play to set us free. Now to stay free we must recognize the “work” of Jesus for us and walk in humility and submission to God and His ways.

Foundation Stone: Forgiveness

Ephesians 1:7 NKJV
In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace
Jesus shed His blood for our freedom
We must confess our need and receive His forgiveness.
We must forgive others who have hurt us.

Foundation Stone: Obedience

1 Peter 2:16 NKJV
as free, yet not using liberty as a cloak for vice, but as bondservants of God.
2 Peter 2:19 NKJV
While they promise them liberty, they themselves are slaves of corruption; for by whom a person is overcome, by him also he is brought into bondage.
Our Freedom is founded on the principle of following the commands of God in our lives.
God has a purpose and a way of life for each and everyone of us. Our work is to seek Him and learn from Him so we can build our free lives on this foundation

Foundation Stone: The Spirit of God

Mark 3:29 NKJV
but he who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is subject to eternal condemnation”—
Anyone who goes against the Spirit is condemned. There is no freedom without the Spirit of God
Galatians 5:16–26 NKJV
I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.
The Spirit of God is our counselor, teacher and the one who convicts us of our sins. We need The Spirit of God alive in us.
Matthew 11:28–30 NKJV
Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
What kills our walk in the spirit is when we don’t receive the work of Jesus in our lives and when we don’t follow His leading through the spirit.

2 Chronicles 9:8 NKJV
Blessed be the Lord your God, who delighted in you, setting you on His throne to be king for the Lord your God! Because your God has loved Israel, to establish them forever, therefore He made you king over them, to do justice and righteousness.”
2 Chron
James 3:13–17 NKJV
Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by good conduct that his works are done in the meekness of wisdom. But if you have bitter envy and self-seeking in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth. This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic. For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there. But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy.
