Jesus said,"I have come to seek and to save that which
was lost." Luke 19:10

He was at Lo-de-bar. He should never have been there.
Lodebar means "the place of no bread"
It is a place of starvation.
There is no spiritual food in the far country.
There is no strength outside the will of God.

B. He was crippled and could not help himself - 9:13
He would have died without David - vs. 8

C. Jesus came into a country where there was no bread

He had more after the fall than he did before
We gain more in Christ than we lost in Adam.
CONCLUSION ---- It is true that, while we as human beings
were in our infancy, the devil grabbed us and
ran off into a far country and caused mankind
to fall and be crippled.

But thank god it is also true that the King
has come, sought us, and found us in a far
country, adopted us into His family, and will
take us to His country to sit at His table
forever.

And do you know what that Kind King did. He prepared a place at the Banquet Table, and he told Mephibosheth that forever he would have a place. And listen to this line, "So Mephibosheth ate at David’s table like one of the king’s sons." The bountiful banquet has now become his. And it’s not just the food, it’s the family. Mephibosheth is one of the family, no longer an outsider, but now one of them. And he couldn’t be more thankful.

But let this story remind us... there is a Kind God who invites us to sit at his Banquet Table.

After supper he took another cup of wine and said, “This wine is the token of God’s new covenant to save you—an agreement sealed with the blood I will pour out for you. Luke 22:20

Revelation 12:11

And they overcame Him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death. (Rev. 12:11)

This is the last reference in the Bible to the shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ; here it is the overcoming blood, enabling believers to withstand the deceptions and accusations of Satan. There are at least 43 references to the blood of Christ in the New Testament, all testifying to its great importance in the salvation and daily life of the believer.

Judas the betrayer spoke of it as "innocent blood (Matthew 27:4) and Peter called it "the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot" (1 Peter 1:9). It is the cleansing blood in 1 John 1:7 and the washing blood in Rev. 1:5, stressing that it removes the guilt of our sins. Paul calls it the...

eb 10:19 Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, 20 by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh,
· At the crucifixion, the 60’ veil that separated the Holy of Holies from the Holy Place was torn top to bottom
· If men had torn the veil it would have been torn form bottom upwards
· This was an act of God showing that the partition that separated man from free access to God was now gone
· We can now approach God without intermediary
· Unrestricted access to God and unhindered fellowship with Him is available to all who come by the blood of Jesus

The King is dead, long live the king.  So went the chants of the people all over Israel at the joyous occasion of David’s ascension and solidification of the throne.  Years of struggle internally against Saul and externally against warring nations had finally been met w/ David assuming his rightful place as God ordained ruler of the nation.  Yet, David was not known as a man after God’s own heart for no reason and so, even while enjoying his kingship for the first time, he thought back and remembered the promise he had made to his dear friend Jonathan (who was Saul’s son) to protect his family always.  And so, because of the love that he had for Jonathan he sought out any remaining heirs of Saul’s family.
