Central Proposition of the Text
Theme: All those who ask of God can be given living water
Thrust: Ask God for eternal life (salvation) and He is faithful to give it to you
Full Statement: God is waiting for unbelievers to come to Him and when they do, He will give them life eternal.
Outline:
I. Coming to Christ
A. Know Christ to receive salvation (v. 10)
B. Once you’ve felt His presence, you’ll yearn for the Living Water (v. 15)
II. Believe in God with your heart but confess your sins with your mouth. (Romans 10:10 - For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation)
A. Jesus will test your heart as He tested the Samaritan woman’s (v. 16)
B. Jesus knows our heart (v. 18)
III. Knowing Christ for yourself
A. When we come to truly know Jesus, we will see Him as who He is – prophet, messenger and Son of the Most High God (v. 19)
B. Christ wants each of us to Believe on Him and cast all our cares upon Him (v. 21 –24)
C. Once we truly know Jesus for ourselves, we won’t be able to not be a witness of His grace and mercy
