Several weeks ago, the men and I were discussing ideas about what our focus…our theme would be during our Sunday evening gathering. Since it is our desire to plant a church in Mitrovice one day, we began discussing the unity of the church. The unity of the body of believers.
Ben led us through a great question and answer time last week that challenged us to see how satan could or tries to destroy our attempts at preserving unity and also to see how Scripture teaches us what we can do to overcome satan and to fight to preserve unity.
But our desire to plant a church in Mitrovice will only ever be a dream if we have no national believers.
One wise man said to me, Jesus did not say go into all the world and plant churches…He said go into all the world and make disciples.
So, we decided our next focus would be on God. It seems odd to say that we are to focus on in our study together because isn’t that exactly what every single believer is supposed to do? Well of course the answer is yes.
But if we don’t have any national believers, and Jesus said go make disciples, why isn’t our study focused on making disciples?
Well since the people we have been called to reach don’t see themselves as sinners, in fact the islamic faith does not believe they are sinners, only mistake makers…making disciples isn’t as easy as telling them that Jesus died for their sins.
So again, why the study focusing on God.
R. C. Sproul writes in The Holiness of God, “Men are never duly touched and impressed with a conviction of their insignificance, until they have contrasted themselves with the majesty of God.”
