Famous people

I am not famous.
Famous people
I am not handsome.
I am not extraordinary.
I’m a normal American.
What do American’s do?
I watch movies.
I play outside.
I ride bikes.
I’ve only met a couple of famous people my whole life.
One time, I was with Randy and Jason, a couple of guys who are here today.
Randy, was able to introduce me to a famous baseball player.
One day we drove to Los Angeles and we met some famous old baseball players.
They are heroes within baseball history.
I was very excited that day.
We met Tommy Lasorda, a coach for the Los Angeles Dodgers.
I shook his hand.
He wrote his signature on baseballs.
And we were able to take pictures with him.
I was very excited to meet a man.
But he was just a man.
He did great things in baseball, but really, he is just a man.
This week we are excited to come to you. Not just to teach you English, but because we want to introduce you to someone who is greater than any baseball player, or any man who ever lived.

We want you to meet God.

Famous God

How do I know this God?

First we know this God from creation.
Have you ever seen a painting before?
How do you know there is a painter?
Because there is a painting.
The painting didn’t just arrive.
Someone had to take the time to paint it and make it look like art.
Creation didn’t just get here.
Just like the painting that needs a painter - creation needs a creator for there to be a creation.
says, “The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.”
A painter puts his name on the corner of a painting so that the world would know it’s his creation.
God has left evidence of HIs power in creation
Conscience
Another way that we know God is through your conscience.
That means that deep down, you know that there is a God.
And this God has told you what is right and wrong.
Is it okay for me to lie to you?
No.
Is it okay for me to steal from you?
No.
Is it okay for me to hurt you?
No.
And you don’t need to be told these things.
God has put this law inside your heart.
All of mankind, knows this to be true.
And there is one more way that God has show us who He is ... His Word, The Bible.
God wants to make sure that you know who He is.
His Word
And so He has spoken to you, through the Bible.

How does the Bible describe God?

He’s eternal.
Have you ever heard of Star Wars?
A man named George Lucas invented Star Wars.
Have you ever heard of Superman?
A man named Jerry Siegal invented Superman.
But no one invented God.
God has no beginning.
He has always existed.
He’s huge!
If you were to take all the nations of the earth, and compare them to God.
The Bible says they are “like a drop from a bucket.”
That means they are very small compared to Him.
The Bible says that if you were to take a all the nations of the earth and compare them to they are like a piece of dust.
He’s way bigger than people.
The Bible says that God sits above the earth, and we are like grasshoppers to Him.
Have you ever heard of Star Wars?
A man named George Lucas invented Star Wars.
We are like little bugs before God.
Have you ever heard of Superman?
In the summers, sometimes we get green beetles that fly.
My little brother would catch these beetles, and tie a string to one of their legs.
A man named Jerry Siegal invented Superman.
And they would fly in circles around his head.
Bugs are smaller than us, and we can do to them whatever we want.
But no one invented God.
We are like bugs compared to God, and He can do with us whatever He wants.
God has no beginning.

Thankfully, God is not like my brother. He is kind to His creation.

He doesn’t torment us like my brother and bugs.
The Bible says that, “He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength. Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.”
Though God is much bigger than us, He loves and cares for His people who are like grasshoppers beneath Him.
He has told us how to live.
And because we have disobeyed Him, he punishes the wicked.
This week, we want you to understand and experience the kindness of God.
Just as my friend introduced me to a famous baseball player.
We want to introduce you to the kind God, who saves.
Just as we are excited to teach you English -
We are even more excited to teach you about God.
So please ask us questions.
