Intro
are you overwhelmed and overworked?
is your world in confusion and disarray?
Do you find yourself in a slump or discouraged, perhaps even depressed?
Maybe things aren’t great, but they aren’t exactly bad, you have just plateaued
Or you might just characterize your life as getting by, surviving, but nothing else.
Maybe you are just going through the motions and haven’t really taken notice of things lately?
How do you get out of the funk?
learn to say no and create boundaries?
How do you find joy and happiness?
Making your way through the fog and the clouds that seem to follow you everywhere?
What might life look like if you went from existing and surviving to living and thriving?
We have talked this summer about Worshipping God, collectively and individually, but what are practical steps of responding to God’s revelation in your life in our world?
Personally, I have been walking this path of going back to basics—slowly, but surely, in every area.
And I am gradually starting to see & experience more hope, joy, peace, grace and love.
Spiritually—simplicity in my time with God
Relationally—making more space to connect and share life experiences (tree house, chores, cooking, fun, camping, fishing, etc…)
Physically—my cryptonite
Mentally—getting out, doing things I enjoy, finding space to process in healthy ways
Emotionally—aware and attentive.
boundaries & space
I am finding the basics are what matter and certain things are unnecessary and soul sucking.
It’s all interconnected, but I always begin with my walk with Jesus, the spiritual component of my life.
This is the lens which I view every facet of my life.
And in this story I wanted to read for you this morning, we see an example of

-am I plugged in?
-OK turn off the power?
-OK, then let’s do a hard reset
I remember working at Sbux we would have someone come in unsure of what they wanted.

If any of these things represent or are a semblance of where you might find yourself currently, then perhaps, if we are to reclaim the sacred spaces within our life, we need to get back to basics.
Sometimes we just need to power down, push reset, and get back to basics.

Read summation of the passage
13 Now when Jesus came into the district of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say that the Son of Man is?” 14 And they said, “Some say John the Baptist, others say Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”
15 He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” 16 Simon Peter replied, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” 17 And Jesus answered him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah!
For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father who is in heaven.
18 And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
19 I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”
20 Then he strictly charged the disciples to tell no one that he was the Christ.
22 And they came to Bethsaida.
And some people brought to him a blind man and begged him to touch him.
23 And he took the blind man by the hand and led him out of the village, and when he had spit on his eyes and laid his hands on him, he asked him, “Do you see anything?”
24 And he looked up and said, “I see people, but they look like trees, walking.” 25 Then Jesus laid his hands on his eyes again; and he opened his eyes, his sight was restored, and he saw everything clearly.
26 And he sent him to his home, saying, “Do not even enter the village.”

prohibit & permit (authority)
Jesus’ response to the disciples’ confession was pointed and striking.
He confirmed their awareness that He is the Messiah and Son of God, and announced His intention of building on this reality a “church,” literally a “called-out assembly.”
Moreover, this church is to be the lived-out expression of heaven on earth.
