JESUS IS PROPHET, PRIEST, AND KING.

PROPHET.....Jesus is the Word of God (). He does not simply speak the Word of God as a mere human prophet, but is Himself the Word made flesh (). He is the final word, the ultimate revelation of God: “In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe” ().
MUST BE CAREFUL WHEN SOMEONE WANTS TO SPEAK A WORD “FROM GOD” INTO YOUR LIFE. YOU YOURSELF CAN HEAR FROM GOD.....WHY? BECAUSE YOU HAVE A PROPHET… HIS NAME IS JESUS.
ROBERT MORRIS..... MAN SAID HE HAD A WORD.... HIS SPIRIT WASN’T RIGHT… AM I A PASTOR? AM I YOUR PASTOR? YOU MAY BE A PROPHET, BUT YOU AREN’T MY PROPHET.
I BELIEVE IN GIFTS OF THE SPIRIT.... PROPHECY, PROPHETS… BUT IT MUST LINE UP WITH JESUS…WORD OF GOD… HE ISN’T SENDING NEW REVELATION.. HIS SON IS THE ULTIMATE AND LAST REVELATION.
KING.....Jesus has “all authority in heaven and on earth” (). He has “the name that is above every name” (). Jesus is the King of kings and Lord of lords (), and one day He will be king in the earthly, political sense of the word, as the weight of governance is borne on His shoulders, He reigns on Mt. Zion, and the nations bring Him homage (; ; ; ). Even before then, He truly is the ultimate authority. Even though His enemies are not yet made His footstool (), Jesus should be reigning fully in our hearts.
MUST BE KING IN YOUR HEART!!!
CHECK THIS.. SO MANY PEOPLE TODAY TRY TO MAKE JESUS SAVIOR....IM THANKFUL HE’S MY SAVIOR AMEN?...
BUT PEOPLE TRY TO MAKE JESUS SAVIOR....WITHOUT MAKING HIM LORD.
If you declare with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
NOT.... CONFESS HIM AS SAVIOR…CONFESS HIM AS LORD.
LORD MEANS ULTIMATE RULER, AUTHORITY, KING OF YOUR LIFE AND YOUR HEART. YOUR DECISIONS. YOUR THOUGHTS. MAKE HIM LORD AND HE BECOMES YOUR SAVIOR.
BUT.... THIS MORNING....IM WANTING TO FOCUS IN ON THE THIRD OFFICE THAT JESUS HOLDS.... HE IS PROPHET, KING/LORD, AND PRIEST!!!
PRIEST… “We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, where our forerunner, Jesus, has entered on our behalf. He has become a high priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek. “
what does this mean? what is the importance of this???
In the Old Testament ONLY the priest could talk to God....
Could only APPROACH GOD…once a year
morning and evening sacrifce every single day… you know… cut off in traffic… mad at your wife...
BUT could only approach God once a year… and had to approach God for you.
it was so important that God gave specific directions to put up a curtain in the temple..... read this here in exodus 26.
“Hang the curtain from the clasps and place the ark of the covenant law behind the curtain. The curtain will separate the Holy Place from the Most Holy Place.”
Synopsis
The New International Version. (2011). (). Grand Rapids, MI: Zondervan.
MOST HOLY PLACE.... The inner sanctuary of the tabernacle set up at Sinai and of Solomon’s temple, where the ark of the covenant was kept. It is a symbol of the unapproachable presence of God.
This is where the priest could go only once a year to speak to God. If you had a need.... you couldn’t enter God’s presence because you would have been unclean, not worthy, dropped dead in his presence.
“the Most Holy Place” (or “Holy of Holies”), in contrast to the “Holy Place” where the altar stood. This superlative suggests increasing closeness to the presence of God. The distinction is not always observed, however. In Leviticus chapter 16 “Holy Place” is used regularly (translated in NIV as “Most Holy Place” in verses 2, 16, 17, 20, 27, and as “sanctuary area” in verse 3, though it is the inner sanctuary that is referred to, as the phrase “behind the curtain” (verse 2) shows); the “inner sanctuary” in contrast to the outer; literally “the second (tabernacle)” in contrast to the first or outer
(NIV) — 33 Hang the curtain from the clasps and place the ark of the covenant law behind the curtain. The curtain will separate the Holy Place from the Most Holy Place.
But i want you to notice what happened on the day of Jesus’ death....
“And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, he gave up his spirit. At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook, the rocks split. Matthew 27:50-51
(NIV) — 16 He partitioned off twenty cubits at the rear of the temple with cedar boards from floor to ceiling to form within the temple an inner sanctuary, the Most Holy Place.
51 At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook, the rocks split
(NIV) — 7 But only the high priest entered the inner room, and that only once a year, and never without blood, which he offered for himself and for the sins the people had committed in ignorance.
This is why Jesus said.....
“I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
The structure and design of the Most Holy Place
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
The New International Version. (2011). (). Grand Rapids, MI: Zondervan.
In the wilderness tabernacle
His death on the cross split the curtain.... signifying that the barrier between man and God has been broken!!
The only details concern the curtains forming the walls of the two sanctuaries, and in particular the dividing curtain which separates the Most Holy Place from the outer sanctuary:
; ;
(NIV) — 31 “Make a curtain of blue, purple and scarlet yarn and finely twisted linen, with cherubim woven into it by a skilled worker. 32 Hang it with gold hooks on four posts of acacia wood overlaid with gold and standing on four silver bases. 33 Hang the curtain from the clasps and place the ark of the covenant law behind the curtain. The curtain will separate the Holy Place from the Most Holy Place.
Now.... the high priest in the OT had to offer sacrifices for your dirty sins twice a day… had to shed the blood of animals in an effort to make you right with God.
(NIV) — 35 They made the curtain of blue, purple and scarlet yarn and finely twisted linen, with cherubim woven into it by a skilled worker. 36 They made four posts of acacia wood for it and overlaid them with gold. They made gold hooks for them and cast their four silver bases.
(NIV) — 21 Then he brought the ark into the tabernacle and hung the shielding curtain and shielded the ark of the covenant law, as the Lord commanded him.
Hebrews 7:27 NIV
Unlike the other high priests, he does not need to offer sacrifices day after day, first for his own sins, and then for the sins of the people. He sacrificed for their sins once for all when he offered himself.

In Solomon’s temple
ONCE FOR ALL!! HE DIED ONCE… FOR ALL… FOR ALL OF YOU… FOR ALL OF YOU SIN… PAST, PRESENT, FUTURE… YOUR DEBTS HAVE BEEN PAID!! YOUR ACCOUNT HAS BEEN PAID IN FULL!! ONCE AND FOR ALL!! GREAT NEWS!!

the gifts and sacrifices being offered were not able to clear the conscience of the worshiper. 10 They are only a matter of food and drink and various ceremonial washings—external regulations applying until the time of the new order.

The Blood of Christ

11 But when Christ came as high priest of the good things that are now already here, v he went through the greater and more perfect tabernacle that is not made with human hands, that is to say, is not a part of this creation. 12 He did not enter by means of the blood of goats and calves; but he entered the Most Holy Place once for all by his own blood, thus obtaining eternal redemption.

see in the OT…that blood sprinkled from animals never cleared the conscience of the sinner/worshipper.
But christ shed his own blood obtaining eternal redemption!! You don’t have to feel bogged down by your mistakes. you don’t have to feel unworthy. Jesus paid for you.
“The blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a heifer sprinkled on those who are ceremonially unclean sanctify them so that they are outwardly clean. How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, h so that we may serve the living God! “

NOW.... THERE’S EVEN MORE.... NOT ONLY DID HE BY HIS OWN BLOOD… PAY YOUR DEBT..ONCE AND FOR ALL…
Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin.  Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
HOLD ON…REMEMBER JUST A SECOND… OT ONLY THE PRIEST COULD ENTER THE PRESENCE OF GOD…AND ONLY ONCE A YEAR.... IF YOU HAD A NEED… ISSUE…SICKNESS, FAMILY PROBLEM, PRAYER REQUEST, NEED OF ANY KIND… YOU COULDN’T GO TO GOD BECAUSE YOU WERE UNCLEAN AND UNWORTHY!!
BUT HERE.... VERSE 16 SAYS BECAUSE OF OUR HIGH PRIEST… WE HAVE BEEN DECLARED CLEAN.... THEREFORE NOT ONLY CAN WE ENTER THE PRESENCE OF GOD…BUT WHEN WE HAVE A NEED WE CAN GO TO HIM WITH CONFIDENCE!!
CONFIDENCE!!! WHY???? Because our high priest, jesus, has
takes it even a step further…check this.
Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water.

19 Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, 20 by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, 21 and since we have a great priest over the house of God, 22 let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water.
; ; ; ;
I LOVE THIS!!! NOW.....SINCE WE CAN ENTER WITH CONFIDENCE.... LET US DRAW NEAR TO GOD.... LET OUR HEARTS BE SPRINKLED TO CLEANSE US FROM A GUILTY CONSCIENCE AND BODIES WASHED WITH PURE WATER...
SUCH A POWERFUL PICTURE… STICK WITH ME...
HIGH SCHOOL..... PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCE....DAY WAS AWFUL… FROM THE MINUTE I WOKE UP… AT SCHOOL....REGRETTING ALL MY DECISIONS.... WISHING I HAD DONE HOMEWORK....WISHING I WASN’T THE CLASS CLOWN.... CONDEMNED.... DIRTY CONSCIENCE....

JESUS… KNOWS YOUR PAST, KNOWS YOUR CONSCIENCE, KNOWS THAT SECRET… BUT HE STANDS AND LOOKS AT YOUR HEAVENLY FATHER AND SAYS....HES CLEAN!! HES SANCTIFIED!! HES FORGIVEN!! HE’S GREAT!! JESUS!!
(NIV) — 16 He partitioned off twenty cubits at the rear of the temple with cedar boards from floor to ceiling to form within the temple an inner sanctuary, the Most Holy Place.

The blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a heifer sprinkled on those who are ceremonially unclean sanctify them so that they are outwardly clean. 14 How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, h so that we may serve the living God!

(NIV) — 19 He prepared the inner sanctuary within the temple to set the ark of the covenant of the Lord there. 20 The inner sanctuary was twenty cubits long, twenty wide and twenty high. He overlaid the inside with pure gold, and he also overlaid the altar of cedar.
(NIV) — 23 For the inner sanctuary he made a pair of cherubim out of olive wood, each ten cubits high. 24 One wing of the first cherub was five cubits long, and the other wing five cubits—ten cubits from wing tip to wing tip. 25 The second cherub also measured ten cubits, for the two cherubim were identical in size and shape. 26 The height of each cherub was ten cubits. 27 He placed the cherubim inside the innermost room of the temple, with their wings spread out. The wing of one cherub touched one wall, while the wing of the other touched the other wall, and their wings touched each other in the middle of the room. 28 He overlaid the cherubim with gold.
SO PLEASE NOTICE....VERSE 14 SAYS…CLEANSE OUR CONSCIENCE SO THAT WE MAY SERVE THE LIVING GOD...
The New International Version. (2011). (). Grand Rapids, MI: Zondervan.
(NIV) — 31 For the entrance to the inner sanctuary he made doors out of olive wood that were one fifth of the width of the sanctuary. 32 And on the two olive-wood doors he carved cherubim, palm trees and open flowers, and overlaid the cherubim and palm trees with hammered gold.
10:21 SAYS.....since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near to God
(NIV) — 14 He made the curtain of blue, purple and crimson yarn and fine linen, with cherubim worked into it.
4:16 ......  Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
In the temple in Ezekiel’s vision
; ; ; In Ezekiel’s vision a portion of the land was sacred to the Lord and called the Most Holy Place.
theres a theme here.... we must understand that Jesus has paid the price, that we are clean, and that we have total access to the father..... and we can do this with a clear conscience.... so therefore we can live and work for him. number one thing that keeps people bogged down from living and working for christ is condemnation, guilt, feeling unworthy...
(NIV) — 4 And he measured the length of the inner sanctuary; it was twenty cubits, and its width was twenty cubits across the end of the main hall. He said to me, “This is the Most Holy Place.”
(NIV) — 15 Then he measured the length of the building facing the courtyard at the rear of the temple, including its galleries on each side; it was a hundred cubits. The main hall, the inner sanctuary and the portico facing the court, 16 as well as the thresholds and the narrow windows and galleries around the three of them—everything beyond and including the threshold was covered with wood. The floor, the wall up to the windows, and the windows were covered. 17 In the space above the outside of the entrance to the inner sanctuary and on the walls at regular intervals all around the inner and outer sanctuary 18 were carved cherubim and palm trees. Palm trees alternated with cherubim. Each cherub had two faces: 19 the face of a human being toward the palm tree on one side and the face of a lion toward the palm tree on the other. They were carved all around the whole temple. 20 From the floor to the area above the entrance, cherubim and palm trees were carved on the wall of the main hall. 21 The main hall had a rectangular doorframe, and the one at the front of the Most Holy Place was similar.
see that 4:16 that says to go to God’s throne of grace in time of need.....
sickness
strength
courage
troubles
trials
BUT ALSO MORE..... IM IN NEED OF HELP IF IM GOING TO FOLLOW CHRIST, LIVE FOR HIM, AND WORK FOR HIM....YOU???
NOTICE WHAT PAUL WRITES HERE ...... TWO FOLD GRACE.....
“for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose. “
(NIV) — 23 Both the main hall and the Most Holy Place had double doors.
12 Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence—continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, 13 for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.
(NIV) — 3 In the sacred district, measure off a section 25,000 cubits long and 10,000 cubits wide. In it will be the sanctuary, the Most Holy Place.
GOD LIVING INSIDE OF YOU…WORKING INSIDE OF YOU....DOING WHAT?? GIVING GRACE....HOW??? BE “WILLING” GIVING YOU THE DESIRE TO DO RIGHT, LIVE GOOD....BEFORE I WAS SAVED I DIDN’T HAVE THAT DESIRE..NOW I DO…
The significance and function of the Most Holy Place
BUT NOTICE ALSO....TO WILL AND TO WHAT? ACT.... HE GIVES YOU THE DESIRE TO DO GOOD, AND THE ABILITY, STRENGTH TO DO GOOD....
To house the ark of the covenant
STOP RELYING ON YOU!! RELY ON YOUR GOD… WHO YOU CAN GO TO IN TIME OF NEED FOR GRACE.... BECAUSE YOUR PRIEST HAS OPENED THE DOOR.... AND GIVEN YOU TOTAL ACCESS.
(NIV) — 33 Hang the curtain from the clasps and place the ark of the covenant law behind the curtain. The curtain will separate the Holy Place from the Most Holy Place.
LAST VERSE.... NOTICE REVELATION
See also ; ;
(NIV) — 3 Place the ark of the covenant law in it and shield the ark with the curtain.
“To the angel of the church in Philadelphia write: These are the words of him who is holy and true, who holds the key of David. What he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open. 8 I know your deeds. See, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut. I know that you have little strength, yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name. “
(NIV) — 19 He prepared the inner sanctuary within the temple to set the ark of the covenant of the Lord there.
7 “To the angel of the church in Philadelphia write: These are the words of him who is holy and true, who holds the key of David. What he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open. 8 I know your deeds. See, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut. I know that you have little strength, yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name.
(NIV) — 6 The priests then brought the ark of the Lord’s covenant to its place in the inner sanctuary of the temple, the Most Holy Place, and put it beneath the wings of the cherubim. 7 The cherubim spread their wings over the place of the ark and overshadowed the ark and its carrying poles. 8 These poles were so long that their ends could be seen from the Holy Place in front of the inner sanctuary, but not from outside the Holy Place; and they are still there today. 9 There was nothing in the ark except the two stone tablets that Moses had placed in it at Horeb, where the Lord made a covenant with the Israelites after they came out of Egypt.
NOT THE DEVIL
To house the incense altar (in Solomon’s temple)
NOT YOUR BOSS
; and 40:5 suggest that the incense altar was housed in front of the curtain, i.e., in the Holy Place, the outer sanctuary.
NO ONE AND NO THING CAN SHUT THAT OPEN DOOR TO YOUR HEAVENLY FATHER!!
(NIV) — 22 So he overlaid the whole interior with gold. He also overlaid with gold the altar that belonged to the inner sanctuary.
(NIV) — 3 Behind the second curtain was a room called the Most Holy Place, 4 which had the golden altar of incense and the gold-covered ark of the covenant. This ark contained the gold jar of manna, Aaron’s staff that had budded, and the stone tablets of the covenant.
LET’S SEEK THE THRONE OF GRACE THIS MORNING!!
To be a symbol of the presence of God
(NIV) — 2 Hear my cry for mercy as I call to you for help, as I lift up my hands toward your Most Holy Place.
See also The curtain veiling the Most Holy Place represents the unapproachable presence of the Holy God;
(NIV) — 33 Hang the curtain from the clasps and place the ark of the covenant law behind the curtain. The curtain will separate the Holy Place from the Most Holy Place.
(NIV) — 2 The Lord said to Moses: “Tell your brother Aaron that he is not to come whenever he chooses into the Most Holy Place behind the curtain in front of the atonement cover on the ark, or else he will die. For I will appear in the cloud over the atonement cover.
The Most Holy Place on the Day of Atonement
(NIV) — 7 But only the high priest entered the inner room, and that only once a year, and never without blood, which he offered for himself and for the sins the people had committed in ignorance.

(NIV) — 16 In this way he will make atonement for the Most Holy Place because of the uncleanness and rebellion of the Israelites, whatever their sins have been. He is to do the same for the tent of meeting, which is among them in the midst of their uncleanness. 17 No one is to be in the tent of meeting from the time Aaron goes in to make atonement in the Most Holy Place until he comes out, having made atonement for himself, his household and the whole community of Israel.
The NT understanding of the Most Holy Place as the place of God’s heavenly presence
Jesus Christ enters the Most Holy Place as Mediator
(NIV) — 8 The Holy Spirit was showing by this that the way into the Most Holy Place had not yet been disclosed as long as the first tabernacle was still functioning.
See also ; ;
(NIV) — 19 We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, 20 where our forerunner, Jesus, has entered on our behalf. He has become a high priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek.

(NIV) — 24 For Christ did not enter a sanctuary made with human hands that was only a copy of the true one; he entered heaven itself, now to appear for us in God’s presence.
Entry to the Most Holy Place is open to all believers
(NIV) — 19 Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, 20 by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, 21 and since we have a great priest over the house of God, 22 let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water.

(NIV) — 51 At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook, the rocks split
