The Lord has a case against ALL people.
We all stand guilty before God.
We all stand guilty before God.
Israel here is in view:
They all have followed after idols.
They have forgotten the Lord.
They have not done what is right.
In fact, they have relentlessly pursued evil.
In essence, they do what they want.
And if we are honest that’s where most of in here are.
We do what we want.
God doesn’t let that go.
He has a case against his people.
Essentially what has happened is that the people have done wrong and now its time for judgment.
they have spent their days getting away, seemingly with their sin, but not any longer.
Judgment has come.
God is judging.
They should have known this right?
There is a lot of evil going around in the world today, but understand something, there is a God will judge.
But keep in mind what God has done for us.
Keep in mind what god has done for this people.
Essentially, what God Begins with is a question that leaves these people no excuse.
verse 3 What evil have I done to you?
verse 4: God reminds them what he has done previously in Egypt
verse 5: God reminds them of what he done for them currently for them.
Balaam was sent by Balak to curse the Israelites and god ends up turning this into a blessing for them.
God parted the Jordan for Joshua in
All of this God has done to reveal himelf to them.
I wonder what he would say to us?
verse 3 What evil have I done to you?
verse 4: God reminds them what he has done previously in Egypt
verse 5: God reminds them of what he done for them currently for them.
In the middle of their unfaithfulness, God reminds them of just how faithful he has been to them.
So then how should we respond?
We have been faithless.
God has been faithful.
What do we do?
Verse 6 and 7 tells us what we try to do.
We try to make it better.
Do I need to do better?
Do I need to make more sacrifices?
Do I need to give up my son?
Essentailly here is what he says:
Ill do what ever i can to make this relationship right.
the problem is… God doesn’t want any of that.
All of that is outward changes that try to please God.
God doesn’t want our attempts to make it better.
Here is what he does want.
This is what is required.
This comes through Jesus.
