Our theme today is Imperfect Women Worshiping a Perfect God. But I want to ask this question...
How can IMPERFECT women worship a PERFECT God?
How can IMPERFECT women worship a PERFECT God?
Let’s be honest. All of us are in some way imperfect because we have FAILED, COMMITTED SIN, MADE MISTAKES, etc. So, how can people so messed up, so flawed and troubled worship a holy and perfect God?
Especially when we know that sin causes a separation between us and God.
Let’s be honest. All of us are in some way imperfect because we have FAILED, COMMITTED SIN, MADE MISTAKES, etc.
Have Failed
Committed sin
Made mistakes
But your iniquities have separated between you and your God,
And your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.
CEV
It is your evil that has separated
you from your God.
Your sins cause him to turn away from you,
so he does not hear you.
Your sins are the ROADBLOCK between you and your God.
Let’s be honest our sins, flaws, failures and imperfections have a way kept us from church, prayer or even praising God.
Our sins (failures, mistakes) create a roadblock and a barrier that affects our prayer life, our service, church attendance and even our worship.
So how is this even possible? How can such broken imperfect people expect to stand before a holy God and offer Him worship?
So how is it possible to overcome this? What is the solution?
There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
Notice that the Bible says, “There is therefore NOW no condemnation to them which are IN Christ Jesus!”
In other words, if you are IN CHRIST JESUS there is...
No Condemnation
No Judgment
No Imperfection
And No Blame
No matter how terrible you might feel or how guilty you might think you are, God says there is no judgment and no rejection of those who are IN CHRIST JESUS. In other words, no sin, no flaw and no imperfection can ever keep those who are IN CHRIST JESUS from the presence of God or from worshiping God!
That is the answer to our question. Remember I asked, “How can imperfect women worship a perfect God?” The answer is, “Because they are IN Christ Jesus!”
I may not always be perfect, but I can still worship God if I’m IN CHRIST JESUS.
This brings me to my next question…
How do I get in Christ Jesus?
How do I get in Christ Jesus?
How do we get in Christ?
Do we need a GPS?
Do we need to join the church?
What do we do?
Philippians 3:
And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:
Notice that Paul’s prayer was that he would be FOUND in Christ. Being in Christ is not something we can achieve in our own strength. Anyone trying to be in Christ according to their own strength or good works is looking for their own righteousness. But Paul says, “And be found in him, NOT HAVING MY OWN RIGHTEOUSNESS, but the righteousness of God which is BY FAITH.”
Rather than trying to EARN our way into Christ (and into favor with God), let us FIND ourselves in Him.
It seems everyone’s looking for their best ME. And they are looking for themselves in everything from their careers, to relationships, to education and even in their service in the Church.
The truth is, your best YOU can only be found IN Christ! And you can only find yourself in Christ by FAITH or by believing you are already IN Him.
But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:
Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks. For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.
It is BY GRACE (a gift from God) that we have been raised together IN CHRIST JESUS. The truth is we are ALREADY in Christ. We were put there by God when He raised Jesus from the dead. Moreover, those who believe this fact can worship and serve God without condemnation!
2:
Whatever mistakes you have made they cannot keep you from worshiping God IF you are IN Christ Jesus.
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
