Daniel pours his heart out to the Lord
Daniel pours his heart out to the Lord
Do nothing out of rivalry or conceit, but in humility consider others as more important than yourselves. Everyone should look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.
So I turned my attention to the Lord God to seek Him by prayer and petitions, with fasting, sackcloth, and ashes.
Daniel wearing Sackcloth with ashes was outward sign of an inner pain and agony

Then I fell down like the first time in the presence of the Lord for 40 days and 40 nights; I did not eat bread or drink water because of all the sin you committed, doing what was evil in the Lord’s sight and provoking Him to anger. I was afraid of the fierce anger the Lord had directed against you, because He was about to destroy you. But again the Lord listened to me on that occasion.
We can see the manner in which he prayed.

Samuel said, “Gather all Israel at Mizpah, and I will pray to the Lord on your behalf.” When they gathered at Mizpah, they drew water and poured it out in the Lord’s presence. They fasted that day, and there they confessed, “We have sinned against the Lord.” And Samuel judged the Israelites at Mizpah.
When the Philistines heard that the Israelites had gathered at Mizpah, their rulers marched up toward Israel. When the Israelites heard about it, they were afraid because of the Philistines. The Israelites said to Samuel, “Don’t stop crying out to the Lord our God for us, so that He will save us from the hand of the Philistines.”
Then Samuel took a young lamb and offered it as a whole burnt offering to the Lord. He cried out to the Lord on behalf of Israel, and the Lord answered him.
Daniels prayer did not consist of a few insincere words uttered before bed.
Daniels prayer was with intensity, also with a determined heart.

When Daniels says I Turned, literally reads, “I gave my face”. Daniel determined to look to God in prayer until the Lord gave him an answer.
Daniels appeal was directed toward “The Lord God”. Not only was he able to heard Daniel’s prayer, but God had the power to direct the affairs of world history in order to answer his prayer.

Who is the one who condemns?
Christ Jesus is the One who died,
but even more, has been raised;
He also is at the right hand of God
and intercedes for us.

In the same way the Spirit also joins to help in our weakness, because we do not know what to pray for as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with unspoken groanings. And He who searches the hearts knows the Spirit’s mind-set, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.

we have sinned, done wrong, acted wickedly, rebelled, and turned away from Your commands and ordinances. We have not listened to Your servants the prophets, who spoke in Your name to our kings, leaders, fathers, and all the people of the land.
Daniel 9:5-
We see in these two verses Daniel lays out what they had done wrong.
There are six accepts of what they did wrong
We have sinned
We have done wrong
We have acted wickedly
We have rebelled
We have turned away from Your commands
We have turned away from Your Ordiances
According to the scriptures Daniel never really done anything wrong, but we see here he put himself right in there with the others.
The word We is in the 16 verse 11 times.
Daniel shows how we are to pray for each other even those that have done wrong.
We see that Daniel puts himself just like the rest and Daniel wasn’t even there when the people of God choose to not listen to God.
In the beginning of verse 5 it starts with “We have sinned”, in Hebrew it basically means “to miss the mark”. Sin is missing God’s mark or goal of holy living that is required for human beings. Israel as a nation had fallen short of God’s design to be holy people. We as Christians are to lift up each other no matter the issue.

Lord, public shame belongs to us, our kings, our leaders, and our fathers, because we have sinned against You.
Daniel
We has Christians should be praying for our leaders every day.
We should pray that our leaders that we have voted for should listen to God in everything that they do for us as country.
In it says that we are to pray for those that have authority over us so so they can walk with godliness and dignity
I know that there are times that our leaders do not meet our expectation but we should be vigilant on praying for them.
We can see that all of the Jews suffered this disgrace. None escaped. Daniel did not need to single out anyone cause it was everyone that had missed the mark God had set before them. Because of there constant sin/disobedient to the Lord, that is why they spent 70 years in captivity.

First of all, then, I urge that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for everyone, for kings and all those who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity.

What wonderful news that we have an advocate in Heaven.
Could you imagine if we had to pay the price for others sins? I know, I can’t imagine. but that is what happen to the people of Israel in the time of Daniel.
Every since the death of Christ we now have a advocate in Heaven who has paid the price for sin. All sin.
There are times in our life where we choice to hold onto the sins of the past and not let them go. We see that in is there is not condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. That means that can be held against us. We have been set free for all time. Now that doesn’t mean we continue to sin.
Jesus’s atoning sacrifice is sufficient not only for our sins, but also for the sins of the whole world. Does this mean that everyone is saved? No, the Bible makes it clear that not everyone will be saved. But anyone who hears the gospel can be saved if he or she want to be.
My little children, I am writing you these things so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father—Jesus Christ the Righteous One.
