WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING FOR?

Hebrews 11:8–10 AV
By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went. By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise: For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God.
Heb 11:8-
About 7 weeks ago after praying for my Deacon ,brother and friend Stedman i was in my bathroom having a shave when i felt God had spoken to me and left on my heart the words WAITING FOR GOD.
Going to see stedmen i spoke of my experience and told him of my experience with God he smiled and said yes Pastor i know God has told me the same.
It was from that point of veiw that i would like to speak to you this morning
Stedmen was waitng for God to take him home to his reward.
Tim reminds me that Steadmen had acording to
2 Timothy 4:7 AV
I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:
2 tim 4:7
my fellow worker in the faith has now gone to his reward.
not because he was good or did good things, for in my opinion he was and did but because he had done something far more importatly than this
Romans 10:13 AV
For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
rom 10:13
Acts 2:21 AV
And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.
acts 2:21
here we see that not once but twice we read the same text
My congregation knows that when God speaks once you should listern if he speaks twice you should sit up and take notice if he speaks 3 times then you must be deaf.
Steadmen wasnt deaf he heard the word of God speak into his life and he acted upon it.
when God called him all those many years ago he had no fear in following him.
Just as he had followed so many people who had left their home land of Jamacia and had journened to a land that he new not, but knew that the place that he and so many other would find a place to live and a job to do.
Here we see a generation of people who left their home to find another.
Just as Abram left the place of his birth not because of a failing econermy or a promise of a new life and a job
But because God had asked him.
Hebrews 11:10 AV
For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God.
heb11:
There came a time in the life of Stedmen when God called to him and he responded to follow him.
He followed not knowing where he would go or what he would do
but knowing that God would sort it out.
When i asked Dorrell and stedman to stand as deacons some time ago i can remmember his responce
what can i do pastor when God askes me to do something all i can do is do it.
whenever we had a workday he would be their putting youger men to shame by doing the work that a young man would do.
i will miss my Brother for he was such a sorce of encouragement to me and my ministry and to so many others.
But i know that i will see him again because of the discison he made so many years ago.
1 Thessalonians 4:13–18 AV
But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
1 thes 4:13-
Hear Paul whos words are full of the Holy spirit Gives us the hope ,not as a hope that we might have , o i hope i can do but somthing but the hope that comes through knowing God
Heb
Our knowing God come from faith
Hebrews 11:1 AV
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
Faith is the title to the will
When people live they make a will but the will has no effect until the one that made the will dies.
Jesus has wrote the will and his will and the denifits of the will only come into effect when Jesus dies
Friends i want to tell you that Jesus Died and rose again who best to be the executor of the will but he that made it.
He is ale to fullfill all the benifits of the written will
John 14:1-
John 14:1–3 AV
Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
Where i am you may be also
this promise is for all not just stedmen
but there is a catch
John 3:3 AV
Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
john 3:3
Their is a belief and an action
You might believe in God and you might think that is good
James 2:19 AV
Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.
their need to be a belief and an action.
Adraham believed that God Could change his life and so he followed God to the place where God wanted him to go
My brother and dear friend Stedmen heard the call of God to follow him and he did and now is in that place prepared for the children of God.
God has no Grandchildren only Children what do i mean by this
you can not have the benifits of Gods sons will because your mother or father new and followed Jesus You have to make a disision for yourself.
2 Corinthians 5:6–8 AV
Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord: (For we walk by faith, not by sight:) We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.
2 cor 5:6
My brother today is in the presence of the Lord and if we want to see him again then we have to make our own dission for christ
John 3:16 AV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
life or death is your dission to make.
let pray.
