25th Sunday in Ordinary Time, Cycle C
1st Reading: Amos 8:4-7
Intro: Amos prophesied during a time of real prosperity in the Northern Kingdom, under Jeroboam II. The verses preceding this selection indicate that God was tired of Israel's failure to live according to his concept of justice. He tells Amos it is time to punish Israel and instructs him to prophesy these words.
2nd Reading: 1 Timothy 2:1-8
Intro: This is a continuation from last weeks reading. It was not selected to coincide with the theme of the Mass but, as usual, has something that can be applied. Notice how Paul says, God "wills everyone to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth."
Gospel: Luke 16:1-13
