“Whatever spiritual dysfunction you have in your life, the cure is the gospel. Do we want to be filled with passion for God? We should drink from the gospel. Do we want to get control of our bodies? We must be captivated by the gospel. Do we want to be content with what we have? We need to feast on the gospel. Do we want to learn to love our spouse? We have to be overwhelmed by the gospel.”- J.D. Greear “Gospel”
“The gospel is not just the ABCs of Christianity, it is the A–Z”- Tim Keller
First, from verses 1-3, we’ll see what we’ve been saved from.
Second, from verses 4-7, we’ll see what we’ve been saved to.
And third, from verses 8-10, we’ll see what we’ve been saved for.
We’ve been saved from death, Satan, and wrath.
We’ve been saved to God.
We’ve been saved to God
“Mercy is God’s kindness towards displayed by not giving us what we deserve”
We’ve were saved for a purpose.
“I obey; therefore, I am accepted by God.” The basic operating principle of the gospel, however, is, not surprisingly, an about-face, one of unmerited acceptance: “I am accepted by God through Christ; therefore, I obey.”- J.D. Greear
