Recently I visited the Ocean. At this particular time, the winds were strong.
I saw the power of the wind. It kept all boats at harbor.
It prevented us from enjoying the beach.
But I saw some kite surfers enjoying themselves in the wind.
They understood the wind and how to use it! It was amazing to watch them do tricks in the air and glide over the waves propelled by the wind.
They set their sails high and took to the seas!
This morning I would like to encourage you to set your sails! Open them up to the wind of the Spirit.

Set Your Sails

The word Spirit in the Bible many times is referred to as wind

Those who go down to the sea in ships, Who do business on great waters, They see the works of the Lord, And His wonders in the deep.
"To reach a port we must set sail - Sail, not tie at anchor Sail, not drift." ― Franklin D. Roosevelt

Sea of Thieves

I find the great thing in this world is not so much where we stand, as in what direction we are moving: To reach the port of heaven, we must sail sometimes with the wind and sometimes against it – but we must sail, and not drift, nor lie at anchor. – Oliver Wendel Holmes📷
Trust that the Wind (Spirit) will take you where you need to go!
Don’t worry the wind obeys God!
The Spirit has a Job description
In John chapter 16 we find this description
1. He is our Helper/Comforter/Counselor
2. He will convict the world of Sin, Righteousness and Judgment
3. He is the Spirit of truth and will lead us into all the truth
4. He is our direct messenger from Jesus
5. He carries God’s authority. The spirit is not on a rouge mission.
Set yourself to catch the Wind of the Spirit.
Start doing business with the Spirit
Engage Him, unravel yourself, open up wide.
Prepare to be “moved” by Him
John 3:8 NKJV
The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.”
How do we do this?
Untie yourself from your old port! release the things that are keeping you from being moved!
Remove all un-necessary weight
Open your sails. Open your heart mind and soul. Don’t be afraid! allow yourself to feel the wind blowing through you! you were made for this! you are the perfect canvas for this.
Romans 8:14 NKJV
For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.
Romans 8:26 NKJV
Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
Romans 8:5 NKJV
For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.
Acts 1:8 NKJV
But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
