Acts 17:26–28 HCSB
26 From one man He has made every nationality to live over the whole earth and has determined their appointed times and the boundaries of where they live. 27 He did this so they might seek God, and perhaps they might reach out and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us. 28 For in Him we live and move and exist, as even some of your own poets have said, ‘For we are also His offspring.’

I. God Made People

26 From one man He has made every nationality......

Paul again lays another fundamental doctrine of the Christian faith.

The prepositional phrase translated as “from one man” (ἐξ ἑνός) describes the origins of humankind; all human beings, to whatever nation they may belong, have one common ancestor. God is the Creator and He, through one blood made every nation of men. Genesis one and two describes the creation of the world and the first person every to live—Adam and then it describes the creation of his wife Eve. From Adam came every nation of men to dwell on the earth. The Greeks would have been offended at this because they thought they were a superior race—the other people were barbarians. God has determined the people that would dwell on earth. He has made every man and every man came from the first man Adam. People have some funny beliefs, but the Word of God is clear that from one blood God made every man to dwell on the face of the earth. Again—let me emphasize that man did not evolve, rise up, get better, grow stronger! Mankind is made by God!

II. God Managed Places

.....live over the whole earth .....

Paul magnifies the Sovereignty of God. He is Creator and He is Controller! He has made man to dwell on the face of the earth.

→Man was not made to live on the moon.

→Man was not made to dwell on the moon or at Mars.

→Man was not made to live on the Sun we can’t get close enough.

→Man was not made to live on Venus is to hot with an average surface temperature of (863°F).

→Man was not made to live on Mercury is to fast. A year in Mercury is 88 days, yet a Mercury day is 176 Earth days.

→Man was not made to live on Jupiter in a storm. Jupiter’s Great Red Spot is an enormous storm that has been raging for over 300 years.

→Man was not made to live on Saturn and be blown away. Saturn has the fastest winds of any other planet in our solar system. These winds have been measured at approximately 1,100 miles per hour.

→Man was not made to live on Uranus less we freeze to death. The minimum surface temperature on Uranus is -224°C – making it the coldest of the eight planets.

→Man was not made to live on Neptune in a blizzard. Neptune has an average surface temperature of -353°F, and winds track around the planet at up to 1,340 km per second.

→Pluto is not the home for people. Pluto is one third water. This is in the form of water ice which is more than 3 times as much water as in all the Earth’s oceans, the remaining two thirds are rock. Pluto’s surface is covered with ices.

Earth not to close to the Sun so we want burn up and not to far away so we want freeze.

God has made man to live on earth—God has made the earth for man and man for the earth. God has given us climate where man can survive and thrive. God has made the earth especially for us! God has not only made the earth for man, but He has determined the boundaries of their dwellings. Determined: horizo, hor-id'-zo, to mark out or bound (“horizon”), i.e. (figurative) to appoint, decree, specify declare, determine, limit, ordain. God is sovereign over what planet we live on and what places we live at! God has determined the pre-appointed boundaries of our dwelling. Pre-appointed: protasso, prot-as'-so; to pre-arrange, i.e. prescribe-before appoint. That means that we do not live somewhere on accident. God know who we are, where we are, and what we do! We live in a certain place because it is the will of God! He has pre-appointed and determined where we will live.

→ Man was not made to live on Mars because of it’s fierce dust storms that cover the entire planet and can last for many months.

→Man was not made to live on the moon.

III. God Marks Periods

...... has determined their appointed times and the boundaries of where they live.

God has determined and preappointed the times in which we dwell. Men may wish they lived at a different time, but God is sovereign over who lives, where they live, and when they live. We are alive in the 21st century because it is the will of God. It is God’s will that we dwell on the earth at this appointed time. God is sovereign over the whole earth and over individuals as well. God has determined our times! He knows when we will live and how long we will live. God is over the territory we live in and the times that we live in. You are not an accident, but you are an appointment! You are not here by chance, but by Creation! You are did not evolve from monkeys, but you were designed by the Maker!

IV. God’s Main Purpose

27 He did this so they might seek God, and perhaps they might reach out and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us. 28 For in Him we live and move and exist, as even some of your own poets have said, ‘For we are also His offspring.’

God has placed man on the earth—man rebelled against God and fell into sin. God came after man! He has been at work bringing men to Himself. Paul says that the purpose of God’s will is that man should in turn seek the Lord. It is the will of God that you should seek the Lord! Seek: means “to search diligently, that we may know distinctly and certainly.” says, “Seek the Lord while He may be found, call upon Him while He is near.” Those who are lost without God can at best grope for God. Grope: (KJV: Feel after) pselaphao, psay-laf-cih'-o; to manipulate, i.e. verify by contact; figurative to search for-feel after, handle, touch. Paul says that He is not far from each of us.
