Is there anything that our world can agree on?
Is there anything that our world can agree on?
About the only thing is that our world is jacked up.
Some believe that our problem is the bad people in our world.
Others believe it is because of social problems like poverty, education, family breakdown.
What if the problem is not just a result of other people or outside conditions, but a problem from within too?
That anger wasnt just stress or that comment wasnt just a slip of your filter but an insight into your heart, the real you.
How would you define sin?

What images or phrases about sin were most striking to you in the video? Why?
gen 3:
Now the serpent was the most cunning of all the wild animals that the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You can’t eat from any tree in the garden’?”
The woman said to the serpent, “We may eat the fruit from the trees in the garden. But about the fruit of the tree in the middle of the garden, God said, ‘You must not eat it or touch it, or you will die.’ ”
“No! You will not die,” the serpent said to the woman. “In fact, God knows that when you eat it your eyes will be opened and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” The woman saw that the tree was good for food and delightful to look at, and that it was desirable for obtaining wisdom. So she took some of its fruit and ate it; she also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it. Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves.
Looking close, what did the serpent imply about the nature and character of God through this temptation?
What are some effects of sin you see in this passage?
Trust in God and His word or intentions, His goodness.
Even today, we question the goodness of God and each other.
gen
When the Lord saw that human wickedness was widespread on the earth and that every inclination of the human mind was nothing but evil all the time, the Lord regretted that he had made man on the earth, and he was deeply grieved. Then the Lord said, “I will wipe mankind, whom I created, off the face of the earth, together with the animals, creatures that crawl, and birds of the sky—for I regret that I made them.”
God was grieved over this sin and rebellion. Why?
God was grieved over this sin and rebellion. Why?
Because sin is not so much about breaking rules but wounding a relationship. When we sin, we betray our loving God and break His heart.
He wants good for us but we think we have a better idea of what is good.
Have you ever seen someone you know, about to make a big mistake but they have rejected any advice you tried to give?
This is what is it is like between us and God.
If God grieves over our sin, what does that tell you about Himself?
Sin like a cancer of our souls
Sin like a cancer of our souls
What would you do for someone you love that has cancer? Would you go to great measures for them? Treatment like chemo....
This is God’s response over our sin in this passage.
God has gone to great lengths to heal you of the sin that has affected your heart and soul, your very being.
I will put hostility between you and the woman,
and between your offspring and her offspring.
He will strike your head,
and you will strike his heel.
“Our sin reveals the depth of our rebellion against God and our helplessness to do anything to be right with God again. But what we cannot do, God has done through Jesus. Jesus is the Son of Eve whom God graciously provided to crush the head of the serpent Satan and rescue us from sin and death.
How does God’s view of your sin affect the way you see God?
Will you trust in the goodness of God tonight? Exchange your view of goodness for God’s?
