I believe in Christianity as I believe that the sun has risen not only because I see it but because of it I see everything else~ C.S. Lewis

Why Fight for the Truth ?
Apologetics: The formal defense of the Christian faith
Acts 22:1 ESV
“Brothers and fathers, hear the defense that I now make before you.”
Philippians 1:7 ESV
It is right for me to feel this way about you all, because I hold you in my heart, for you are all partakers with me of grace, both in my imprisonment and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel.
Philippians 1:16 ESV
The latter do it out of love, knowing that I am put here for the defense of the gospel.
1 Peter 3:15 ESV
but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect,
1 peter 316
1 Peter 3:16 ESV
having a good conscience, so that, when you are slandered, those who revile your good behavior in Christ may be put to shame.
1 Peter 3:15 ESV
but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect,
Titus 1:13 ESV
This testimony is true. Therefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith,
Titus 1:14 ESV
not devoting themselves to Jewish myths and the commands of people who turn away from the truth.
Titus 1:16 ESV
They profess to know God, but they deny him by their works. They are detestable, disobedient, unfit for any good work.

Defending the gospel one of the ways that we show our love to others.
Defending the gospel is essential in the sharing of my faith
Defending the gospel help remove obstacles of unbelief
Defending the gospel helps me to know what I believe in
Defending the gospel helps safe guard the church from heresy.
People would much rather the Pastor to encourage the saints than declare war on the apostates. But when the enemy is in the field, the watchmen dare not go to sleep. The Christian life is a battleground, not a playground. So Jude wasted no time in identifying the enemy.
The Appearance of the apostates
Jude 4 ESV
For certain people have crept in unnoticed who long ago were designated for this condemnation, ungodly people, who pervert the grace of our God into sensuality and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.
Jude 4 NLT
I say this because some ungodly people have wormed their way into your churches, saying that God’s marvelous grace allows us to live immoral lives. The condemnation of such people was recorded long ago, for they have denied our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.
How to Spot someone who has fallen away ?
You can know them by their Character
one of the attributes or features that make up and distinguish an individual
b (1): a feature used to separate distinguishable things into categories also: a group or kind so separated 〈advertising of a very primitive character〉

They were ungodly (v. 4b). This is one of Jude’s favorite phrases. While these men claimed to belong to God, they were, in fact, ungodly in their thinking and their living. They might have “a form of godliness,” but they lacked the force of godliness that lives in the true Christian ().

You can know them by how they Care for the truth.
Twisting the truth
2 Peter 3:15 ESV
And count the patience of our Lord as salvation, just as our beloved brother Paul also wrote to you according to the wisdom given him,
2 Peter 3:16 ESV
as he does in all his letters when he speaks in them of these matters. There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures.
Three Pictures of Apostates

Jude 5 ESV
Now I want to remind you, although you once fully knew it, that Jesus, who saved a people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed those who did not believe.
The Jews because of their unbelief
The Jews were destroyed because of their unbelief he used it to reveal God’s unchanging attitude toward anyone in any time or place who corrupts His Word. In fact, God’s judgment against apostates is detailed throughout the entire Old Testament
For Jude’s readers, Israel’s judgment was a vivid reminder of what happens to those who (whether or not they become teachers of His), having heard what God expects and witnessed what He can do, still fail to believe
The nation of Isreal who were delivered from Egypt refused to trust God for Him to bring them into the promised land.

Jude 6 ESV
And the angels who did not stay within their own position of authority, but left their proper dwelling, he has kept in eternal chains under gloomy darkness until the judgment of the great day—
The Angels because of their Disobedience
Some scholars seem to think that Jude is referring to the original fallen angles from heaven. That fell when they joined Satan to rebel against God.
Others think Jude is referring to the sin of the angels in
Genesis 6:1 ESV
When man began to multiply on the face of the land and daughters were born to them,
Genesis 6:2 ESV
the sons of God saw that the daughters of man were attractive. And they took as their wives any they chose.
Genesis 6:3 ESV
Then the Lord said, “My Spirit shall not abide in man forever, for he is flesh: his days shall be 120 years.”
Genesis 6:4 ESV
The Nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of man and they bore children to them. These were the mighty men who were of old, the men of renown.
These angels were once holy, pure, and living in God’s presence yet they rebelled and fell into sin.
Jude 7 ESV
just as Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding cities, which likewise indulged in sexual immorality and pursued unnatural desire, serve as an example by undergoing a punishment of eternal fire.
The Cites of Sodom and Gomorrah because of their gross wickedness
The Activities of the apostates
Jude 8 ESV
Yet in like manner these people also, relying on their dreams, defile the flesh, reject authority, and blaspheme the glorious ones.

Defiling the flesh:
Jude 9 ESV
But when the archangel Michael, contending with the devil, was disputing about the body of Moses, he did not presume to pronounce a blasphemous judgment, but said, “The Lord rebuke you.”
Jude 10 ESV
But these people blaspheme all that they do not understand, and they are destroyed by all that they, like unreasoning animals, understand instinctively.
Jude 11 ESV
Woe to them! For they walked in the way of Cain and abandoned themselves for the sake of gain to Balaam’s error and perished in Korah’s rebellion.

Jude 12 ESV
These are hidden reefs at your love feasts, as they feast with you without fear, shepherds feeding themselves; waterless clouds, swept along by winds; fruitless trees in late autumn, twice dead, uprooted;
Jude 13 ESV
wild waves of the sea, casting up the foam of their own shame; wandering stars, for whom the gloom of utter darkness has been reserved forever.
Jude 14 ESV
It was also about these that Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied, saying, “Behold, the Lord comes with ten thousands of his holy ones,
Jude 15 ESV
to execute judgment on all and to convict all the ungodly of all their deeds of ungodliness that they have committed in such an ungodly way, and of all the harsh things that ungodly sinners have spoken against him.”
Jude 16 ESV
These are grumblers, malcontents, following their own sinful desires; they are loud-mouthed boasters, showing favoritism to gain advantage.
Jude 17 ESV
But you must remember, beloved, the predictions of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Jude 18 ESV
They said to you, “In the last time there will be scoffers, following their own ungodly passions.”
Jude 19 ESV
It is these who cause divisions, worldly people, devoid of the Spirit.
Jude 20 ESV
But you, beloved, building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit,
