Who were the Judges?
Who were the Judges?
Moses died and left Joshua in charge. Joshua led the people into the promise land, but Isreal failed to fully take possession of the land.
It came about when Israel became strong, that they put the Canaanites to forced labor, but they did not drive them out completely.
Now the angel of the Lord came up from Gilgal to Bochim. And he said, “I brought you up out of Egypt and led you into the land which I have sworn to your fathers; and I said, ‘I will never break My covenant with you,
and as for you, you shall make no covenant with the inhabitants of this land; you shall tear down their altars.’ But you have not obeyed Me; what is this you have done?
“Therefore I also said, ‘I will not drive them out before you; but they will become as thorns in your sides and their gods will be a snare to you.’ ”

Because the Philistines has used his wife, and solved the riddle, and how his wife had been taken from him, Samson took 300 foxes and tied a torch between the tails of two foxes and release them. Burned down their fields.
The the Philistines came up and burned her and her father with fire.

Samson said to them, “Since you act like this, I will surely take revenge on you, but after that I will quit.”
He struck them ruthlessly with a great slaughter; and he went down and lived in the cleft of the rock of Etam.
The Philistines ruled over Judah (Northern tribe of Isreal) and they went to them and leaned on them.
3000 me of Judah went to get Samson.
He made them promise they wouldn’t kill him, he let them tie him up and deliver him to the Philistines.
