Being built as a spiritual temple requires building our faith upon the "rock" or stone of our faith, Jesus Christ. Building on the stone, requires pursuit of God and it requires actions that are representative of a "holy priesthood" in order for their sacrifices to be accepted. In this reading of 1Peter, we see consequences for those who reject the stone while visiting Isaiah 8, and 28 where we discover that "if you are not firm in your faith, you are not firm at all" (Isaiah 7:9b).
