Introduction Count up the cost

Before Joshua goes to possess the land he sends a couple of spies to see what they are up against.

Some relationships are entered into lightly, but we would be better off if were to sit down consider the consequences.

Christ instructs the multitude to take into account the cost of being his disciple. He gives two examples: a man building a tower and a king going to war. (Luke 14:25-35)

Transition. It’s responsible to plan, but you must be willing to be led by God.

I. Order your steps in the Word

A.    Must surrender and summit to God

B.     Must study God’s word

Transition. The word is the only offensive weapon in our armor

II. We wrestle not against flesh and blood

C.     The king was in search of them, not the people.

D.    We are not fighting a white/black republican/democrat or north/south battle, but we’re fighting a battle between good and evil

Transition. You must not label a potential ally your enemy.

III. You don’t know where your blessings are coming from

E.     Rahab was an unexpected friend

F.      Elijah thought he was alone but God had seven thousand that he had protected

Transition. Keep living for God no matter how bad it seems

Conclusion: Let your walk be your witness.

It’s because of the witness of what God had done for Israel that made Rahab want to help them.

Illustration: the man who walk past another man window.

How you live your life has more of an impact that what you say.
