Prop: The Christians focus must be on the Lord Jesus Christ.

The book of Hebrews shows the superiority of Christ. This morning’s message let’s look at 4 ways Jesus is better than Angels.

I.                   Christ, is superior in His person

-          Angels are not gods

-          Angels were created

-          Angels worship God

-          Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

-          John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

II.                 Christ, is superior in His Position

-          Psalm 2:6-7 Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.  7 I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.

-          Psalm 45:6-7 Thy throne, O God, is forever and ever: the sceptre of thy kingdom is a right sceptre.  Thou lovest righteousness, and hatest wickedness: therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.

-          Psalm 102:25-27 Of old hast thou laid the foundation of the earth: and the heavens are the work of thy hands.  26 They shall perish, but thou shalt endure: yea, all of them shall wax old like a garment; as a vesture shalt thou change them, and they shall be changed:  27 But thou art the same, and thy years shall have no end.

A.      Relationship to the Father – vs. 5

B.      Relationship to the Angels -6

-          Angels ministry is to worship Christ

-          People glorify angels

-          Angels Glorify God

C.      Son of Gods relationship with mankind (8-9)

-          Gods thrown is eternal.

-          God loves righteousness

-          God hates sin as well.

III.              Christ, superior in His power (10-12)

1.       Creation Power – John 1:1; Gen 1

2.       Resurrection Power – Jesus arose

3.       God does not change

4.       Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever.

IV.              Christ, is superior in His PURPOSE

-          Angels purpose is to serve

-          Christ purpose was to save.

Closing:

1.       Have you trusted in the person of Christ?

2.       How is your relationship with God?

3.       Be a servant of Jesus Christ.
