Down for Whatever
Down for Whatever
In the realm of colloquialism, this phrase means, Ready and willing to participate in most any activity. I find it interesting that there are those of us who can demonstrate this level of commitment and loyalty to others but not to God.
That’s what Paul is getting at, in this passage, that the believer must choose to live with deep commitment towards God.
The story is told of a woman who was both deaf and blind . . . I wanted people to know what side I’m on.
The question today for each of us is are you on God’s side? Are you down for what God desires?
Transition: Paul teaches the church the requirements for this type of life.

Phil. 4.
Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.
Define Commitment- to be fully devoted.
Paul’s words in this section of the letter challenge the Philippian church to grow up in their thinking. To become spiritually mature.
meditate on these things
Embrace them
Make these things a part of your living

ILLUS: You are what you eat . . . You are what you think, too.
Application: see things God’s way. See things from God’s perspective. Make things less about what you want and more about what God wants.

What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.
Paul exhorts them to apply those things they have learned from him to their lives. Paul reminds this church that God requires believers to practice holiness daily.
His point is not to be casual Christians but committed to the will and way of God.
There will be struggles and temptations but live pressing forward.
