Esteem - it is a need

Every group has this same issue. It’s why every business need to have a mission. That mission is defined by asking the question - what need are we filling. What is our purpose? It’s actually the first step in being a successful - anything.

Today I want to talk to you about what we need to be - What His true purpose is for us. We don’t have to search to long… Its right here in the Bible.

Urge

The Greek to English does not translate well.

Most others say Walk in a manner

the closest English word is conduct but it’s hard to use that in a sentence.

The long way around

The Bible describe the fact that we are human being full of sin and imperfection - no one escapes it.

The Bible describes the fact that Christ came to earth to pay the penalty for our sinful nature and call us to live for Him and his purpose. He extends a hand and begs for us to grab it that we can be all we were created to be.

The answering of the call requires and initial and permanent repentance. - “Repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand.”

Walk - we bust take a look at what we are doing and believing and see if it lines up with what the Bible says.... if it doesn’t fix it.

You are called.

2 Peter 1:10 ESV

Therefore, brothers, be all the more diligent to confirm your calling and election, for if you practice these qualities you will never fall.

Philippians 3:14 ESV

I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

What it looks like

We are all called to something… in that calling,

humility and gentleness

patience

bearing with one another in love.

eager (desperate) to maintain unity

One body, one spirit, one hope. one lord, one faith, one baptism, One God and Father of all (ONE)

Implied - if there is one of all that, we should be united in those things.

The calling varies (prophets, evangelist, pastors. and teachers, (not and all inclusive list.)

A boat always has a purpose…keep things from sinking

To build op the body of Christ v13

until we attain unity of the faith

until we all KNOW the son of God (intimate)

Until we all look like Him

(recieved a message yesterday - I love the teaching of Christ but left the church because of how Christians acted.

Sow we won’t be children v. 14

tossed about, tricked, and deceived.

Conclusion

Builds itself up in love.

Love becomes the source of unity.

The thing that drives us to be who we are supposed to be.

If we love we want the best for those around us

to equip

to grow

to have unity

for his glory and for the sake of his body - both the current and those coming.
