Intro: Life is hard. It’s not something I am expressing as I look at hardships from far off. I am not looking on the outside in, I am in the middle of the storm, looking, searching wholeheartedly, for a sign of light. Life is hard. I am 33 years old right now, and I will tell you this, life doesn’t get any easier. Life is hard. So here’s the question… What do you do when life gets hard? What do you do when things aren’t going quite like you planned and you can’t see the way out? What do you do when life is a storm? What do we do when we feel pressured, perplexed, persecuted, or struck down?

I. Remember the constant. ()
I. Remember the constant. ()
A. I grew up in church. I was a Royal Ranger. I remember taking a survival course where they taught us how to use a compass. I remember the instructor saying that if at anytime you lose your way, if at any time you don’t know where you are, then locate North. Once you locate north, you will be able to get a sense of direction. I wish I remembered that more often. I didn’t know life would get this hard. Here’s the important thing to remember when things go sideways: Remember your constant, it’ll give you direction.
II. Remember the Lesson. ()
II. Remember the Lesson. ()
A. God has a purpose for everything that happens. Here’s the thing, do you trust Him? If I ask my doctor to diagnose my symptoms, and he tells me I have a cold, and how to remedy it, then I have to trust what he says. In the same way, when we are going through a storm we must remember that God has a reason for the storm, and there is something to be learned in the storm. Remember the Lesson, it’ll give you purpose.
III. Remember the Promise. ()
III. Remember the Promise. ()
A. If you believe that God is constant, and never changing. If you believe that He has a purpose for everything, then the last thing you must remember when going through storms is remember the promise. Remember the promise, it’ll give you hope.
B. Wait.... Jesus lives through us… this sounds familiar…
a. Understanding this, we understand and remember that no matter what we are going through, no matter how bad the storm is, it is God’s will for us to succeed, to advance, and to obtain the promise of life in the FULL.

So what do I do when the storm is rough? I remember that God is constant, as is His will for my life. I remember that He has a purpose in everything that happens in my life. I remember that He has a promise over my life. That is the hope for our lives… the hope that anchors us. No matter how bad the storm, I know that God is constant, He is teaching me a lesson, and He has a promise for me.
