What’s going on guys! So last week we kicked off CONNECT by beginning our series called “The Journey.” We’re calling it The Journey because whether you know it or not, we are on one! We are on a journey to help each other take our next steps with Jesus. We do that first by Knowing Jesus.
Tonight, we’re discussing what it means to Walk in Freedom. This is huge! Just this past Sunday, we had 21 people get baptized! That’s awesome! But what is even more awesome is the fact that these people are born again Christians, who have met Jesus, and are now new creations. The old has passed away and the new has come.
Baptism = is a symbolic act of obedience to knowing and following Jesus. It specifically doesn’t do ANYthing to you other than get you wet. But let me help you understand what it represents.
The word “baptism,” means to plunge or immerse. That means completely soaked. When you get baptised, you get dunked! And the reason for that, is because it represents ALL of you being made new. Again, it doesn’t physically do anything, other than make you wet, but it represents that ALL of you has been washed/cleansed. When you are pulled out of the water, you are showing the world the old you has been buried and you’re loyalty is to Jesus forever.
From that point though… is what we are discussing tonight. The Walking in Freedom part is so important as we Journey together!
Baptism, let’s people know…you got a new family!
Real Facts for Real Family = Freedom
Real Facts for Real Family = Freedom
Fellowship with God first! This means we walk in the light! God is the source of light. Jesus is the “Son” get it?
Fellowship with Family, second! This means we walk together! God as our light and fellowship with each other.
Fellowship with Freedom! This is HUGE!
“The blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.”
Sin is still a part of us until we are with Jesus in heaven because… - “If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.”
If we think that we are not sinners, then we are telling God…His plan was wrong in sending Jesus and He messed up.... (God doesn’t mess up.) See
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
There is nobody else out there who is faithful and just to forgive us. ONLY JESUS.
