We saw last week how God had worked change and transformation in Joseph, through temptations, trials and time. This week, as we return to the rest of Jacob’s family, we learn that transformation is not just an individual thing, but something that spreads to the others in our community. God works through us collectively to release us from traps in the past, to soften our hearts, and to test us for change. Ultimately, he is not just about shaping individuals, but families, communities and a whole kingdom for his purpose and glory. Joseph was the catalyst for the nation of Israel. Jesus is the catalyst for God’s church.
