Jesus is more interested in those on the outside than he is with those on the inside.
Luke 15:1–7 NLT
1 Tax collectors and other notorious sinners often came to listen to Jesus teach. 2 This made the Pharisees and teachers of religious law complain that he was associating with such sinful people—even eating with them! 3 So Jesus told them this story: 4 “If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them gets lost, what will he do? Won’t he leave the ninety-nine others in the wilderness and go to search for the one that is lost until he finds it? 5 And when he has found it, he will joyfully carry it home on his shoulders. 6 When he arrives, he will call together his friends and neighbors, saying, ‘Rejoice with me because I have found my lost sheep.’ 7 In the same way, there is more joy in heaven over one lost sinner who repents and returns to God than over ninety-nine others who are righteous and haven’t strayed away!
Luke 15:8–10 NLT
8 “Or suppose a woman has ten silver coins and loses one. Won’t she light a lamp and sweep the entire house and search carefully until she finds it? 9 And when she finds it, she will call in her friends and neighbors and say, ‘Rejoice with me because I have found my lost coin.’ 10 In the same way, there is joy in the presence of God’s angels when even one sinner repents.”
Luke
Luke 15:11–24 NLT
11 To illustrate the point further, Jesus told them this story: “A man had two sons. 12 The younger son told his father, ‘I want my share of your estate now before you die.’ So his father agreed to divide his wealth between his sons. 13 “A few days later this younger son packed all his belongings and moved to a distant land, and there he wasted all his money in wild living. 14 About the time his money ran out, a great famine swept over the land, and he began to starve. 15 He persuaded a local farmer to hire him, and the man sent him into his fields to feed the pigs. 16 The young man became so hungry that even the pods he was feeding the pigs looked good to him. But no one gave him anything. 17 “When he finally came to his senses, he said to himself, ‘At home even the hired servants have food enough to spare, and here I am dying of hunger! 18 I will go home to my father and say, “Father, I have sinned against both heaven and you, 19 and I am no longer worthy of being called your son. Please take me on as a hired servant.” ’ 20 “So he returned home to his father. And while he was still a long way off, his father saw him coming. Filled with love and compassion, he ran to his son, embraced him, and kissed him. 21 His son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against both heaven and you, and I am no longer worthy of being called your son.’ 22 “But his father said to the servants, ‘Quick! Bring the finest robe in the house and put it on him. Get a ring for his finger and sandals for his feet. 23 And kill the calf we have been fattening. We must celebrate with a feast, 24 for this son of mine was dead and has now returned to life. He was lost, but now he is found.’ So the party began.
Luke 15:11-24
If you have ever lost something of value, you are distracted by the lost item.
Lost people are important to God
Matt 4:18-19
Matthew 4:18–19 NKJV
18 And Jesus, walking by the Sea of Galilee, saw two brothers, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen. 19 Then He said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.”
Today, we want to talk about … what do we say?
It’s easier than you think and it’s not what you think.
Fish Talk
1 Peter 2:9–10 The Message
9 But you are the ones chosen by God, chosen for the high calling of priestly work, chosen to be a holy people, God’s instruments to do his work and speak out for him, to tell others of the night-and-day difference he made for you—10 from nothing to something, from rejected to accepted.
We don’t have to know how Jonah, noah, red sea split

What do we say?

1. Share the Hope we have.

Let me tell you the reason, I decided to follow Jesus.
1 Peter 3:15-16
1 Peter 3:15–16 NLT
15 Instead, you must worship Christ as Lord of your life. And if someone asks about your hope as a believer, always be ready to explain it. 16 But do this in a gentle and respectful way. Keep your conscience clear. Then if people speak against you, they will be ashamed when they see what a good life you live because you belong to Christ.
Don’t worry about winning an argument, win their hearts

Three Elements to Your Story

How I realized I needed Jesus.

My story before I met Jesus. share testimony
When I met other teens who loved Jesus, Jon Elder and others, it made me realize that I needed and wanted Jesus.
Matthew 7:21 NLT
21 “Not everyone who calls out to me, ‘Lord! Lord!’ will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Only those who actually do the will of my Father in heaven will enter.
That covered me… I was in church every week.
Let me tell you what I did next...

How I committed my life to Jesus.

Describe the CL meetings leading up to it. I prayed in my bed that night… couldn’t wait to tell my friends the next day.

The Difference it has made in my life.

It changed everything. Not perfect… made many mistakes… but it changed the general desire and direction of my life. It gave me peace, inner joy and hope.
World is asking, How do we get the hope?

2. Share my church.

While we do a lot of stuff for you, the church services are aimed at making a place where lost people feel comfortable coming to hear the Gospel and where Church people can grow.
God loves the whole world.
Luke
Luke 14:23 The Living Bible
23 “ ‘Well, then,’ said his master, ‘go out into the country lanes and out behind the hedges and urge anyone you find to come, so that the house will be full.
The need is BIG.
We pray for lost people.

Pray for them.

We pray for lost people.

Pray for those lost friends. 5 scriptures.
2 Corinthians 4:4 NLT
4 Satan, who is the god of this world, has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe. They are unable to see the glorious light of the Good News. They don’t understand this message about the glory of Christ, who is the exact likeness of God.
Pray that this thing that blinds them will be removed.

Show them you care.

This is why we help people
People are asking 3 questions
Can you help me?
Parenting group, grief share, single and parenting
2. Do you care about me?
3. Can I trust you?
It may takes years of developing the relationships to get to the point of praying with them. But it is worth it

Invite them to join me at a service.

Invite them to the service that will work for them and sit with them.
2 out of 52 to invite someone who did not know Jesus.
We live in a post Christian culture in our church. Many people will not come to church but here in the south, people will still come to church when invited.

3. Share Christ.

God Loves You.

John 3:16 NLT
16 “For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.
Every person is on a spiritual journey, even if they are an atheist. God created them for him and their spirit longs for God.
Everyone is on a journey… they just need to know God loves them.

God has a plan for their life.

John 10:10 NLT
10 The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.
If you ever want to know more, I would love to meet with you.
Why do people need to know these two things?

The Problem.

People don’t have a relationship with God because Sin blocks them. Sin gets in the way of knowing God.
Romans 3:23 NLT
23 For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.
Sin Separates us from God.
How do you deal with the sin in your life? You have to pay for it. The price though is death. That’s a price we can’t pay, only Jesus paid the price.
Romans 6:
Romans 6:23 NLT
23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.
Sin is the problem

The Solution.

Romans 5:8 NKJV
8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Jesus paid your bill.
No other religion offers that. Ask people, how does your religion deal with sin?
John 14:6 NLT
6 Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.
John 14L:6
Acts 4:12 NLT
12 There is salvation in no one else! God has given no other name under heaven by which we must be saved.”
1 Peter 3:18 NLT
18 Christ suffered for our sins once for all time. He never sinned, but he died for sinners to bring you safely home to God. He suffered physical death, but he was raised to life in the Spirit.

The Response.

Ephesians 2:8–9 NLT
8 God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. 9 Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it.
John 1:12 NLT
12 But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God.
Romans 10:9–10 NLT
9 If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved.
Acts 3:19 NLT
19 Now repent of your sins and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped away.
Romans 10:
Revelation 3:20 NLT
20 “Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends.
No matter what someone’s argument is, the real deal is that God is knocking on the door of your heart.
