the Great Commission, not the great suggestion

Matthew 28:18–20 NKJV

And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.

1. Church on the Rock-Abilene tithes off of all general offerings.

we don’t tithe off of designated funds because most of the time those funds don’t benefit the rock, so, we aren’t Going to skim off the top of a special project like angel tree.

we believe in the great commission. gifts are in people not corporations.

Matthew 10:41 NKJV

He who receives a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet’s reward. And he who receives a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man’s reward.

Romans 10:14–15 NKJV

How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, Who bring glad tidings of good things!”

2. Church on the Rock tries to do local outreaches.

Pastor Deadra does this in the parking lot. on Saturday Night.

we try to do this in the park on Sunday Night.

that’s why I started preaching this year.

its not that I didn’t want to preach, or don’t like preaching (or didn’t Like preaching in years past. rather I was trying to show that Christians aren’t all stuffy.

that’s what we are trying to do with the Wednesday Night meal. (…a cup of cold water in my name).
