A lot of what people struggle with in Paul’s writings is understanding the context of what he’s saying.
Last week we looked at how many people use Romans chapter 9 as a means to prove Predestination, but ultimately we debunked their theology by looking at the context of Paul's writing to the Romans as a whole book and not just one chapter.
Brother Roger reminded me of a very powerful passage to support our doctrine even further last week after service.
Today’s lesson, much like last week is a loaded gun to many who like to take one verse and build a theology without comparing that verse to the context of the rest of scripture.
We need to realize that TEXT without CONTEXT is PRETEXT.
So when we see verses that don’t always make sense at face value how should we respond?
Jesus’ teaching should always trump any other scripture.

Vs 1
Let’s start our journey through
Vs 1. Paul wished that all Isreal would be saved
This was a major insult because the Jews thought they were already Acceptable in God’s sight because of the Law
I believe the same is true about many church members today.
Vs 2. Paul acknowledged Israels Zeal
Their zeal wasn’t based on true knowledge
Vs 3.
They were ignorant of God’s Righteousness and tried to establish their own.
Today’s Christians are often the same way
Jesus spent 3 1/2 years teaching His righteousness, I believe it’s pretty important to learn it.
Vs 4. Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.
Paul wasn’t saying that Christ ended the law but completed the law and established a new law of grace and righteousness.
IOW Christ’ teachings have become the law.
Vs 5. Moses wrote the law/ Torah (inspired by God of course)
Whose law would you rather live by?
If your faith is in Christ you will live by His teachings.
If we
Vs. 6 Paul writes what Jesus said in:
John
IOW is their anyone who has come from heaven or anyone who has raised themselves from the dead?
There is only one son of God.
