This Moment-

1 Samuel 12:20–22 CSB
Samuel replied, “Don’t be afraid. Even though you have committed all this evil, don’t turn away from following the Lord. Instead, worship the Lord with all your heart. Don’t turn away to follow worthless things that can’t profit or rescue you; they are worthless. The Lord will not abandon his people, because of his great name and because he has determined to make you his own people.
Moments with God-
God speaks
When God speaks truth in revealed
Truth is - We mess up
we sin
we chase worthless things
Our the people wanted to be like everyone else- They chose a king over God
1 Samuel 8:6–9 CSB
When they said, “Give us a king to judge us,” Samuel considered their demand wrong, so he prayed to the Lord. But the Lord told him, “Listen to the people and everything they say to you. They have not rejected you; they have rejected me as their king. They are doing the same thing to you that they have done to me, since the day I brought them out of Egypt until this day, abandoning me and worshiping other gods. Listen to them, but solemnly warn them and tell them about the customary rights of the king who will reign over them.”
How often do we chase things that are temporary?
How often do put things or people before God?
The bible says to seek first the Kingdom of God, but we want pleasures here and now
How often we treat God like a friend rather than Holy
Even though you have committed this evil
the Lord will not abandon you
in these moments with God we come and we confess, and God makes us His!
1 Peter 2:9–11 CSB
But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his possession, so that you may proclaim the praises of the one who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. Once you were not a people, but now you are God’s people; you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy. Dear friends, I urge you as strangers and exiles to abstain from sinful desires that wage war against the soul.
The things of this world at temorary
the pleasures
the hardship
Our Hope is in the next
the Christian life is a battle and a witness
When we live as exiles we there is a war because we abstain from the sinful passions and we bear witness to the Gospel-
the hope we have in Christ Jesus
Hardships will come but God has overcome and we are His
In these moments with God, healing happens because truth is speaking
once we were lost and without mercy but now God has called us His
we have a purpose and future
we will still have to deal with the hurts in this world
broken families
drug addictions
self-image
value in others eyes
and even persecution
But God has not abandon us
Collide- when heaven meets earth
Jeremiah 24:6–7 CSB
I will keep my eyes on them for their good and will return them to this land. I will build them up and not demolish them; I will plant them and not uproot them. I will give them a heart to know me, that I am the Lord. They will be my people, and I will be their God because they will return to me with all their heart.
God is speaking, God is calling
What will be our response?
will we answer that call?
will we return?
Matthew 11:28–30 CSB
“Come to me, all of you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take up my yoke and learn from me, because I am lowly and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
God doesn’t abandon us, he is calling us!
Luke 18:9–14 CSB
He also told this parable to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous and looked down on everyone else: “Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. The Pharisee was standing and praying like this about himself: ‘God, I thank you that I’m not like other people—greedy, unrighteous, adulterers, or even like this tax collector. I fast twice a week; I give a tenth of everything I get.’ “But the tax collector, standing far off, would not even raise his eyes to heaven but kept striking his chest and saying, ‘God, have mercy on me, a sinner!’ I tell you, this one went down to his house justified rather than the other; because everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted.”
Humility is the response-
God without you I am nothing
