God Remembered Noah

The Ark Rested

The Waters Subsided

After 74 days the mountain tops became visible

2 Bird Reconnaissance

After 40 days of seeing the mountaintops Noah sends the raven

flew to and fro

The raven probably felt right at home among floating carcasses and mountain tops.

After 7 days Noah sends the dove

found no resting place and returned to the ark

10-11 After 7 days Noah sends the second dove

This one returned with a freshly picked olive leaf in her beak

Probably the ground was still too wet for the dove to set foot.

After 7 days the third dove

This dove did not return back

29 days later Noah removed the covering from the ark

By removing the ark roof, Noah could observe the condition of the land.

The surface was dry

57 days after the roof was removed the earth was dry

The ark passengers emerge

Noah’s worship, God’s response

Noah makes an altar of burnt offerings to the Lord

Noah approaches God the way God had established

a picture of what Messiah would one day do

Noah has a heart of praise and gratitude

after receiving the deliverance of the Lord, Noah is so filled with gratitude that his first act is to lead his family in worship.

He builds an altar and offers the clean animals as sacrifices to the Lord.

Noah’s priority was thanking God

God responds (to himself)

He loved the worship of praise (aroma)

God resolves to never punish humanity the same way

God shares his thoughts with us:

Mankind has evil intentions from youth. It is deprived

The response from grace makes the difference

God would one day send his Son, Emmanuel to achieve the means of God’s grace for mankind, including Noah

In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace

Man’s response of gratitude to Christ’s sacrifice is the soothing aroma of praise God desires today

to the praise of the glory of His grace, which He freely bestowed on us in the Beloved.

God built an altar for his Son to lay.

The cross is the altar

Hebrews 13:10 NASB95

We have an altar from which those who serve the tabernacle have no right to eat.

There is no other altar, no other means, no other way.

The response God desires is faith alone in Christ alone

Noah’s offering was through the typology representing of His redemptive Grace

Today we worship through Jesus Christ, God’s sacrificial lamb on God’s selected altar.

1 Peter 2:5 NASB95

you also, as living stones, are being built up as a spiritual house for a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.

Hebrews 13:15–16 NASB95

Through Him then, let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that give thanks to His name. And do not neglect doing good and sharing, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.

Our sacrifice of praise should be as Noah’s attitude of praise reflecting upon God’s grace for saving him from the flood.

This is a ‘soothing aroma’ God recognizes. The gratitude for His undeserved charity to man
