SHOW COMPASSION
SHOW COMPASSION
This is closely connected to character and conviction, but we chose to give it its own theme. We wanted to made sure our kids understood that our world is filled with pain and suffering everywhere, and the Jesus they follow requires them to care.
And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.
eph. 4:
It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.
They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.
lam. 3:22-23
Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous:
TO BECOME COMPETENT
TO BECOME COMPETENT
Ultimately, at the end of their time with us, we wanted our children to possess certain skills that would serve them well.
People skills, Work ethic, ability to navigate finances, relational/emotional intelligence and etc..
Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?
(For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
matt. 6:33-
I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

Role Model
When our girls was little he would always interrupt us by saying, “Mom, Dad, watch me!
Then they would do something entertaining.
Its sometimes as simple jumping off the chair.
Honestily, it was usually something silly that did’nt require much fine motor skills.
He just wanted us to watch them, and there’re default “get our attention line” was Mom Dad watch me!
As they grew up we began to notice that their desire for us to watch them became less, yet he began to more closely watch us.
They never said it out loud, but we knew they had transitioned from Mom Dad watch me! to now thinking, I’m watching you, Mom and Dad.
