I. The Galea - made of leather

II. The Cassis - made of metal

-Thick ridged band to protect the forehead

-plates to protect the sides of the face

-And an extension in the rear to protect the neck.

-Left very little exposed

-Virtually Impenetrable

It’s primarily Designed to protect from a broad sword attack.

In What Way Is the Helmet Salvation?

what is salvation?

Salvation is the act of God's grace in delivering his people from bondage to sin and condemnation, transferring them to the kingdom of his beloved Son, and giving them eternal life—all on the basis of what Christ accomplished in his atoning sacrifice.

The bible says

Ephesians 2:8 ESV

For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God,

What are we saved from?

As sinners we are deserving of the wrath of God. However, Christ absorbed the wrath of God for us on the Cross thus saving us from the wrath of God to an eternity with HIM

Salvation has elements to it that we must udnerstand if we will understand how we are protected from the schemes of the devil.

Justification - we are saved

Justification is an act of God’s free grace that involves 2 parts

I. Forgiveness

-pardoned all our sins (past, present, and future) -on the basis of Jesus’ righteousness, God has accepted us as righteous in his sight -This right standing with God is found through Faith in Christ alone

PROTECTION? THE ENMEY WILL BE YOUR GREATEST ACCUSER…TELL YOU YOUR SINS ARE WORSE THAN OTHERS....YOURE NOT GOOD ENOUGH TO SERVE…GOOD ENOUGH TO LOVE…GOOD ENOUGH TO FORGIVE BECUASE YOU ARE AN ESPECIALLY BAD SINNER...

-Dear brother…no matter how great your sin…your savior is GREAT!

II. Adoption -adopted as a child of God

-God places those who were once his enemies within his household

-In doing so he gives them all the rights of heirs in his Kingdom

-This is a relationship that will never be broken.

-When God is your Father, he will alwasy be your father...

PROECTION: THE ENEMY WILL TRY TO TELL YOU THAT YOU HAVE FALLEN FROM GRACE.

-HE WILL TELL YOU THAT YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD HAS BEEN DAMAGED TO THE POINT OF NO RETURN

-JUST LIKE THE STORY OF THE PRODICAL SON, WE HAVE A LOVING FATHER THIS IS LOOKING IN THE DISTANCE FOR YOUR REPENTANT RETURN....HE WILL RUN TO YOU…RECIEVE YOU…AND CELEBRATE YOUR RETURN

III. Sanctification - We are being saved

-The work of God’s free grace whereby we are progressively made into the likeness of image of His son.

-This work is not finished on this side of eternity, but is an ongoing process.

-Summed up by the words of that unnamed theologian that once said “HE’S STILL WORKING ON ME MAKING ME WHAT I OUGHT TO BE.”

PROTECTION: THE ENEMY WILL TELL YOU THAT YOU SHOULD BE PERFECT…THAT IF YOU ARE SAVED YOU SHOULD NOT EVER STUGGLE…EVERY HAVE THE TEMPTATIONS THAT YOU HAVE…EVER FAIL THE WAY YOU DO....

-BUT PRAISE GOD HE IS STILL WORKING ON US

-HE HAS NOT ABANDONED US TO SELF-DESTRUCT IN OUR OWN FAILURES, BUT THE SPIRIT OF GOD IS WORKING…MAKING US PROGRESSIVILY MORE LIKE JESUS...

IV. Glorification - We will be saved

-The final work of of God where by sanctification is made complete

-made glorious, holy, and blameless

-we receive glorified bodies that are

-immortal, imperishable, powerful, and spiritual

-DWELL WITH CHRIST FOREVER!!!!!

When the enemy swings his broad sword and says.....

YOU ARE NOTHING....no no...I was nothing...but in Christ I have been

-REGENERATED

-JUSTIFIED

-FORGIVEN

-AND ADOPTED

NOBODY LOVES YOU...

-But in ADAPTION I have been made a Child of the King and He Loves me

BUT YOU STILL SIN...Yes he is still working on me...molding me...shaping me...conforming me into the image of His Son

AND PRAISE GOD HE THAT BEGAN A GOOD WORK IN ME WILL ONE DAY BRING THAT WORK INTO COMPLETION....

-WHEN I TAKE MY LAST BREATH IN THIS LIFE MY NEXT BREATH WILL BE WITH HIM IN GLORY....AND THERE IS NOTHING THE ENEMY CAN DO ABOUT THAT....PRAISE GOD FOR THE HELMET OF SALVATION.
